Alpha alec's redemption (Sadie) novel Chapter 324

The room goes still the second I step inside. The air changes, thickening with unease.

“A–Alpha,” one of them stammers.

I stare at them, letting the silence stretch. “Since you all seem to have nothing better to do than gossip about your Luna…” I pause, voice dropping low, dangerous. “You can run around the training arena a hundred times. Then clean the dungeon.”

The three of them blanch. “Y–yes, Alpha!”

They scramble out so fast they almost trip. Still, that doesn’t make me feel any better. Punishing them won’t fix the trust I shattered or the pain I caused.

When the door swings shut, I exhale and grab a tray, piling food onto it. My hands shake slightly, but I force myself to focus.

Then it happens. Before I even smell her, I feel her.

That invisible pull, that familiar energy brushing against my soul.

I turn, and my heart stops.

She’s standing at the entrance… But not the Sadie I’ve come to know. Not the one who smiled shyly at me on our date, who made my world feel alive again.

This is the Sadie I first met months ago, when I first stepped into her pack lands. Distant, untouchable and cold.

Her eyes are empty, her face unreadable. Her shoulders are straight, her movements sharp and calculated.

Knox whimpers in my head. “No… no, no, no, no.”

I can’t even breathe. It feels like someone’s taken a blade to my chest and twisted it. Plunging it deeper and deeper until I’m left with nothing but a bleeding heart.

She looks right through me, like I don’t exist.

“Sadie…” My voice cracks.

She doesn’t answer. Doesn’t even glance my way. She just walks past me, dismissing me as unimportant.

I can’t move. It’s like my feet have been glued to the floor and all I can do is watch her.

She moves around the kitchen, silent and mechanical. Grabs her breakfast, fills a mug, and heads to the table without a word.

Every second is torture. I stand there, rooted to the floor, watching her move… the woman I love acting like a stranger.

Knox is losing it. “Do something. Talk to her. Touch her. Make her see us… Please. We can’t lose her.”

Fuck. I want to, but how do you reach someone who’s already closed the door on you?

Finally, I grab my own plate and sit across from her even though everything in me is screaming at me to pull her into my arms.

I can’t eat, so I just watch her… the way her jaw clenches, the way her fingers tighten around the spoon like she’s holding herself together by sheer will.
