After the Secret Wedding: Rise of My Queen
Chapter 212 Isabel Refuses to Go to the Hospital
She couldn't go to the hospital; if she did, her secret would be exposed.

"I'm fine ... really, it's much better now."

As soon as Isabel finished speaking, she saw Xander's gaze fall on her legs.

Her legs were covered in bloodstains, some still half-dried ...

Okay, this probably wasn't very convincing.

"Actually, I ... I was too embarrassed to say earlier."

In that brief moment, Isabel had a sudden flash of inspiration and came up with a clever excuse.

"I'm on my period."

Isabel blurted out, her face turning red.

She felt like her acting skills deserved an Oscar at this point. She could easily win all the best actress awards.

Isabel's act was so convincing, especially since the blood was coming from that area, that Xander was almost convinced.

"How could there be so much blood? I've never seen you bleed this much before."

Xander's words shocked both Isabel and Leo, who was driving.

So you know how much she bleeds every time?

How do you know that? Are you watching her closely or something?

A drop of sweat slid down Leo's forehead.

The moment Isabel mentioned her period, he knew he shouldn't be in the car.

But before he could even adjust to her words, his boss threw that comment out of nowhere.

It was more than he could handle.

"I-I forgot the date. I had a sweet craving this morning and had a cold drink at the dessert shop. It must've upset my stomach."

Xander's hand moved to her lower abdomen with a look of concern, his voice carrying a gentle reprimand. "You can't do that again. You need to take better care of yourself here."

His lifelong happiness depended on it.

And in the future, having children would depend on it, too.

Xander's words once again left Isabel and Leo struggling to keep their composure.

They couldn't understand why, whenever Xander spoke, his words seemed to take on a completely different meaning.

"Boss, we're at the hospital."

Xander turned to Isabel. "You should get it checked."

Isabel refused to get out of the car, no matter what.

"How can I go in looking like this? Besides, I'm a doctor myself. And, not to brag, but while I may not be great in other fields, when it comes to medicine, if I claim second place, and no one dares claim first."

Isabel considered herself a modest person and rarely boasted.

But that was the first time in her life she'd elevated herself so highly—just to avoid going to the hospital.

After Isabel spoke, she realized Xander was staring at her with a puzzled, probing gaze.

There was something strange about the look, something she couldn't quite put her finger on.

What's going on? Why is he looking at me like that? It's as if he's trying to see my inside.

"You're really not going down?"

Isabel shook her head like a rattling drum.

"I swear, I promise, I'm really fine. If I'm lying to you, I'm a little dog!" Isabel said, her expression as serious as could be.

At this point, Xander genuinely believed her.

Of course, it wasn't just because of her words. After all, Isabel was the one to heal Samuel's leg.

Samuel's leg, which no famous doctor had been able to fix despite their best efforts.

But Isabel had helped Samuel stand and walk again in just two months.

Her medical skills were nothing less than miraculous.

As Xander thought about this, Isabel's earlier words suddenly echoed in his mind.

"Not to brag, but while I may not be great in other fields, when it comes to medicine, if I claim second place, and no one dares claim first."

Xander's gaze darkened as he stared intently at Isabel.

A few seconds later, he gently guided her head to rest on his shoulder.

"Rest for a while."

"Mm."

Isabel responded softly, but then suddenly remembered something.

"Rachel ... I didn't hit her."

"I know," Xander replied, his tone calm.

She said just one sentence, and he believed her?

She planned to pick up some supplements to help with the pregnancy.

"Ha ... " She let out a tired yawn.

Isabel rubbed her tired eyes. After losing so much blood during the day, she was exhausted.

It didn't take long before she fell asleep.

As Isabel was sleeping soundly, the door slowly creaked open.

Xander entered quietly, gently closing the door behind him. He glanced at Isabel, noticing she was already fast asleep.

He softened his steps and made his way to the side of the bed.

Once there, he slowly lifted his hand and placed it on Isabel's forehead.

Her temperature was normal.

He approached the bed, gently lifting the blanket to check the pajamas Isabel was wearing.

The light beige fabric was spotless, with no trace of the blood from earlier.

Xander let out a quiet sigh of relief. Fortunately, the bleeding had stopped.

With that in mind, he took the pregnancy test stick he had purchased earlier from his pocket.

He had originally planned to have Isabel try it tonight, but now ...

With her period starting, there was no need to test it.

He decided to keep it for later, waiting for the right moment to try again with her.

The previous two times, he hadn't been able to fully show his capabilities. Otherwise, there's no way he would have lost to Max.

As Xander was about to leave, his eye caught the clothes in the bathroom.

He glanced at Isabel before quietly walking toward the bathroom.

He crouched down, picking up the pants and underwear Isabel had changed out of before bed.

There were large stains of blood on them.

After a brief pause, Xander took the clothes and quietly walked out.

"Bro? What's this?" Samuel asked, his face filled with confusion as he looked at the clothes Xander was holding.

Aren't these Isabel's clothes? Why is his brother holding them?

"The clothes got dirty. I'm just going to wash them," Xander replied, then placed the items into a basin.
