Things were not easy even after that, and she did her best to hide the babies under her robes, keeping them quiet until she was sold off.
They were quickly traded in the markets of Holt, to be sent Eastwards to Hassen City. There were a number of them, and the caravan even hired a powerful mercenary team to escort them.
At some point, chaos reigned, and she was taken away. The owner who bought her was also killed, freeing her.
As for Freya and Sephra, they were practically sisters, once slaves, bought from an western Town and were about to be taken to a City. However, their ’masters’ died en route—though Nana knew they had a lot to do with that—allowing them their freedom as well.
Since then, the two female half-orcs had lived in the wild, living their own lives as sisters. They found a place not too far east from Holt, and they had lived there for a while.
That was until they sensed a fellowman (or woman) in a caravan.
Freya created barriers and some traps, while Sephra used her beauty and charm to convince them to make detours, which ultimately made them fall into a ravine.
Most people at their level wouldn’t die, but there happened to be hidden Level 40 monsters there, so there ended up being quite a number of casualties.
The snake did not mean to, but it happened so she wasn’t going to deny her fault. What was important to them was getting the half-orc out as well as her children.
The children must only be around 1 year old, but half-orcs grow a bit faster than humans, so they could pass as three or four year old humans except for the animalistic qualities around them. These qualities were also extremely endearing, triggering people’s maternal instincts.
For example, Little Kuma’s brown ears and puffy tail would twitch at a random pat on the head, while Koko’s little wings would flap a bit, though it would only lift her up an inch, whenever she was praised. Very cute.
The two half-orcs couldn’t help but grab one baby each and hug them. The babies giggled, tickling hearts.
While they played with the kids, the two women looked at Nana. "So what do you plan to do?"
"I’d like to see it..." Nana said. "Even if there’s a chance it’s different. I think it’s good to see. How many territories would accept people like us when we do not have a leash on our necks?"
Most humans would be terrified of them without a ’leash’.
The dwarves didn’t seem like they were lying. Even if they might’ve seen wrong, there should still be a sliver of truth there.
"Well, we’ll come with you."
"What?"
"We also want to see!" the dwarves promptly added. "At worst, we’ll just run away again and head to our original destination."
"Do you even know where it is?"
Freya did not expect them to nod easily though.
"They gave me their map..." Cotto said. "It’d take several weeks to go there though." They didn’t have beast carts after all.
Wait, it should be months, considering how small their steps were.
"..."
"It’s alright."
"Can we also come with you?"
"What?" Freya answered immediately. "Of course not."
They couldn’t return the dwarves’ kindness by kidnapping their children! They weren’t humans!
"What if they ended up attacking that place?"
"It’s just a town right?"
