After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World novel Chapter 1818

Chapter 1818: The Cold is Over (Part 2)

Luis’ eyes twitched and since he had to put more force to pull him up, the plank he was using as a raft was imbalanced, too.

This caused him to drop as well. Fortunately, Luis was strong and he just had to find anything stable enough to hold on to.

When he managed to hold on a jamb, he lifted the big guy up a balcony

Luis glared at Baron. This guy usually had pretty good self-preservation instincts. What’s he doing ruining his joy ride?

Baron indeed had very good survival instincts.

However, he got too tempted. As a weak person, he really couldn’t get out of the house the whole time unlike his cousins who could go on errands and do their jobs every few days! He, in contrast, was so stifled!

He also gained, like, fifty pounds!

What could he do trapped inside during an abnormal winter? All he had an abundance of was food!

He heard that the snow had to melt first before it would flood and he literally just went out of his balcony, which was very safe. His house wasn’t in the low area as well, so he wasn’t afraid!

However, he saw one of the animals had somehow gotten out from their protected coral in the tunnels. It was one of the young chimps, famous for stealing people’s food in parks. Prisons, for better or for worse, didn’t work against non humanoid creatures.

Anyway, Baron just figured it was probably stifled, like he was.

He went out to grab it (his cousins were either outside as well or were sleeping soundly in their rooms).

He wanted to temporarily take it home to safety, but then the waters suddenly came (he apparently went after it for longer than he realized) and he threw it up a balcony by instinct.

Baron was relieved it was safe, though he could not secure his own safety. He was too big and not agile at all, and he was easily swept away.

Fortunately, he was still rescued in time. Whew! Not that Luis was amused, of course.

Anyway, Baron laid on a random balcony for a while, not expecting to see a certain chimp jumping over floating debris and balcony railings.

Squee! Squee!

It landed next to him and...bit his nose.

"AHH!"

But then a special heat emanated from his nose and he suddenly realized what happened.

Did he just gain a battle pet?! Something even his cousins had been aiming for but had failed miserably in!?

Hey, drowning aside, and deformed nose aside, at least he got himself a battle pet!

...

Back to the flood rescues, Leez rescued the last of the ’flushed’ in the street assigned to her, though there was still water running. It must’ve come from the mountain peak, which had a lot of piled up snow.

Although the flood itself didn’t last an hour, she had to go up and down many times. Somehow, more victims came about as the floods raged on, especially among the goblins who were so easy to sweep away.

There were also those who were guests who had to be trapped in small spaces unlike those who had been prepared. They were just too excited to go out, forgetting the aftermath that they had actually experienced years ago.

Leez felt a bit tired, and she found herself losing balance when she slipped on one of the railings she landed on.

Her eyes widened as she fell. She wasn’t too nervous because even if she fell and got swept away, she would be fine. However, it sure would be a hassle.

"Pfff," Oslo arrogantly sneered back. "As someone well-experienced in attraction, unlike you, I quite know what romantic longing looks like."

"What in the orcshit are you on about?!" He screamed, pitch a bit higher than usual.
