After Surviving the Apocalypse, I Built a City in Another World novel Chapter 1641

Chapter 1641: The Lords Roaming (Part 1)

A/N: I am back safe and sound from our authors’ trip btw! I enjoyed it and was inspired for a few stockpile chaps lmao.

Now that I landed in my home country, I just hope all these earthquakes stop soon. Sighhhh

The elders watched as the Lords left the Center, no doubt to look around the territory.

Garan looked at Ryo. "Good job. Your contribution points will be credited to you and your team."

Mathilda looked at Ryo and the rest of them. "Congratulations. However, we also have to consider that we were lucky this time. Eventually, you’d encounter territories that we wouldn’t want to partner with."

"Will they still be our scope, or will it be the Terran Recovery Team’s?"

"Good question."

Mathilda said, and the others also paused in thought.

Indeed. If the Lord were evil, they would not only pass on any alliances with them, but this also meant there would be innocents being victimized in their territory.

In that case, the nosy, er, caring Alterrans might have to do some rescue work.

Such a conflict would not be fit for the diplomacy teams, and their skill sets would also vary.

At this, Mathilda could only sigh. "We’ll cross that bridge when we get there."

Doing these wasn’t integral to Alterra’s survival, but it could strengthen it in the long term, not to mention potentially rescuing families of their loyalists.

Wise people said that those in power must do things for the greater good, at least not without having to sacrifice their own basic rights.

This was why, despite their actions being seen as too overbearing, they’d do it as much as they could. They were just...human, after all.

And this meant they could be selfish and want to guard their own interests. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

And there was nothing wrong with that.

...

While the Elders continued with their meetings, the new allied Lords had finally begun to look around.

The Lords and their cronies looked at the lively plaza adjacent to the Center. It was filled with people, chatter, and activity.

Judging by the time, it was in the middle of the work day, but the place was still bustling. Many of these people, interestingly, seemed like they were hunters carrying their equipment (and some carrying loot).

Hunters, if they had a good place to call a ’base’, then they would be this world’s equivalent of rich freelancers.

In other territories, going out was such a risk, and the rewards might not be proportional to the cost. At the same time, it was necessary to a degree, lest monsters pile up so much that they wouldn’t be able to handle the mobs.

In Alterra, although there were plenty of dangers, the safety factor was high. People even seemed to be looking forward to the tasks.
