That night, back in the Gaea Villa, some team members lounged about in the living room with the kids. This was Ansel and Harold.
The others were still at work or heading home, while Theo, Maya, and Horus were doing their homework at their friend Pururu’s place.
Pururu, as one of Bianca’s adopted children, lived in Baron’s house, a place children loved to visit.
Baron’s villa had intricate wooden playgrounds for kids-at-heart (i.e. adults) that even the real kids loved to use it. It was even more exciting than the babies’, because the slides, climbing walls, and the like were made for adults, and therefore much bigger.
Baron was also filthy rich, and their pantry and kitchen were always overflowing with food. (They also hired a chef, so one could imagine how good their food was).
It was why Baron gained a few pounds despite being much more active in Xeno, and despite the fact that the food was healthier here.
And then... there were the two little babies who stayed at home, melting everyone’s hearts. Well, when they were behaved, anyway.
Today, they seemed to be a little miffed.
"Pepppaahhh!" The little girl squealed in annoyance, her little eyebrows furrowed as she glared at her brother who, similarly, refused to give in.
She was trying to claim her rightful possession from her greedy brother, who only knew to eat.
"Noooooo Mewbaw!!" the other one said in response, pulling the stick back in his direction. This made his sister very, very annoyed.
At this time, they were fighting over soft gouji tanghulu that was coated with a thin layer of caramelized sugar. They each had softened, deboned ones. For a while before this, they just peacefully sucked on their own candies, drooling all over them.
Sadly, Meatball gobbled it up faster, and started asking for more. The chubby little ball crawled to the nearest adult, who was Ansel.
He was cradling his son while they waited for the wife to get home, watching over his niece and nephew while doing so. He was not expecting he’d soon be part of a ’conflict’.
Baby Pepper frowned and smacked her brother’s hand trying to take what was not his. "Peppahs!" she said again, determined not to share.
Meatball pouted, but he also remembered his mother’s teaching of not stealing (though as a baby, he didn’t fully understand it yet. He just knew it would always make his parents upset and dote on his sister more).
Anyway, since the owner of the desired item wasn’t letting go, the baby decided to get a new one for himself. He lifted himself up and toddled to the redhead, who was peacefully holding his newborn.
Meatball soon reached him and looked up, his little eyebrows furrowed and rounded eyes were teary. His cheeks were plumpier than usual, too. "Hungwy!"
Ansel almost had a heart attack.
"Goodness, someone do something about this!" he gasped, looking away from the adorable ball that had now grabbed onto his pants.
Then he remembered he was the only adult here. Harold was in the kitchen and the rest were outside.
The challenge here... was how to reject Meatball.
It was an established rule that the babies were only allowed to eat sweets once a day. Although their physiques were stronger here, so the same amount of ’unhealthy’ might not have the same effect, the excess amount of sugar was still not good.
Anyway, it’d take time for their hospitals to publish studies on the new ’health’ standards, so they’d play it safe in the meantime.
"Mewballl..." The little milky voice echoed, partnered with soft pulling on his shirt. Being the target of those soft, begging stare from a baby who must not get what he wanted, Ansel swore he almost died.
"...tomorrow, when the trees bear fruit again, you can have one," he spat out, and the baby boy understood that he was being denied and immediately cried.
"Wuu... hungwyy..." he sobbed pitifully, not letting go of his shirt.
Bump!
Ansel paled, all while cradling his own sobbing son, completely useless in front of three crying babies.
