The people who lived in this neighborhood were just as wealthy and influential as the Franklins.
Ethan knew exactly where the Franklins lived. Thanks to his connection with Natalie, he’d known Nadine for years, so their address was no secret to him. Plus, the Adams Group had done business with the Franklin Group before, so there was a bit of history between the families.
Half an hour later, Ethan pulled up outside the Franklin family’s villa with his team of bodyguards. One of the guards got out and rang the bell.
It took a while before anyone showed up. The man who finally came to the door was grumbling, “Who’s ringing the bell at this hour? Doesn’t anyone sleep around here?”
Seriously, who comes knocking in the middle of the night?
He froze when he saw the row of cars and the Adams family’s bodyguards waiting outside. His tone shifted immediately. “Who are you people? Who are you looking for? It’s the middle of the night. This isn’t exactly a good time for visitors.”
He was the Franklins’ butler, and he looked both surprised and cautious.
The bodyguard spoke quietly, “I’m with Ethan. He’d like to see Lawer.”
The butler was stunned for a second. Ethan was here? In the middle of the night? That couldn’t mean anything good.
He remembered the mess Nadine had made. She was still in police custody, not released yet. Lawer and Pansy had been up all night, frantically making calls, trying to pull whatever strings they could to get her out.
He’d also heard that the car Nadine smashed belonged to Mrs. Adams. Now Ethan showed up with a crew of bodyguards. Was this about sticking up for his ex-wife?
“Please wait here. I have to let Lawer know. I can’t open the gate without his say-so.”
With that, the butler hurried back inside.
