Ethan made a face.
“Grandma, do you think I should give her some money?”
“Did she already blow through all of it?” Stephanie asked, raising an eyebrow.
She remembered just how much Ethan had given Isabella during the divorce. Honestly, between the cash and the wedding gifts, Isabella could have lived like royalty.
“I had Frank talk to her about investing in a movie. She put in eighty million. After that, she’s got to be running low. She also invested in Linda’s and Barbara’s projects. On top of that, her own company is burning cash every day. Sure, the money comes back in fast, but you have to spend it first to make more.”
Ethan always kept an eye on Isabella’s finances.
Stephanie sat quietly for a moment, then sighed. “She’s really going all in, isn’t she? If she keeps throwing money around like this and something goes wrong, she could lose half of everything overnight.”
Ethan had given Isabella enough to last her a lifetime, as long as she didn’t do anything crazy. Just leaving it in the bank would have let her live in comfort forever.
But suddenly, it was like she’d turned into a totally different person. She’d gotten ambitious, started investing, started building her own business. Even Jennifer had tried to talk her out of it, but nothing worked.
Stephanie wasn’t against women in the family working or earning their own money. When Jennifer married in, they’d agreed: the men would handle business, the women would take care of the home. That’s how it ended up with all the Adams family women staying out of the spotlight, focusing on being wives and mothers.
