After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 629

Deborah never let her relatives from her hometown come to Cabinda, and she refused to help them find jobs. If they needed something, she’d help out. She bought them houses in their own town, got them cars, and sent them thousands every month to spend. That was fine with her. But letting them come to Cabinda? No way. She always said she was living as someone’s secret lover, and bringing her family here would only drag them into her mess and embarrass everyone.

She made it clear. If anyone dared show up in Cabinda looking for her, all the money and gifts would stop right then and there. Her relatives all came from pretty average backgrounds, but thanks to Deborah’s generosity, they’d been living the good life these past few years. After her warning, nobody wanted to risk losing that. They stayed put, enjoying the easy life, not daring to make trouble.

Deborah’s monthly allowance was even bigger than Cynthia’s, and Jackson liked to give her extra cash on top. She never worried about money, and she collected rent from properties she owned. The only people she gave real support to were her parents, brothers and sisters, plus a few close uncles, aunts, and cousins. She sent them monthly payments, enough for them to live comfortably back home. For the more distant relatives, she might bring some nice food or drinks when she visited, but she never handed out cash.

“Alright, get some rest,” Natalie said. “I’m going to check on Ethan at the hospital. If he’s okay, I’ll come straight back. Tonight, I’ll cook you a few of your favorite dishes, just to spoil you a bit.”

Jordan grinned, his tone teasing. “Babe, I was hoping for a little extra spoiling.”

“I’m actually starving,” he replied. “The second I got home, my wife ran off to see Ethan at the hospital. She didn’t have time to cook, and I didn’t even tell her I’d be back early. I wanted to surprise her… Where are you eating? What do you feel like? If you’re nearby, I’ll come out too. My treat.”

Malvina laughed softly. “Natalie’s being a little much, isn’t she? You just got back from a work trip, you must be wiped out, and instead of making you something to eat, she runs off to see Ethan? Jordan, you’re too patient, letting her care so much about another man.”
