After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 618

“You’re getting more and more out of hand. If I don’t rein you in now, who knows what kind of trouble you’ll cause next.”

“Mom, I’m not. Her coffee just tastes awful, that’s all.”

“Ethan’s siding with her now. Of course he’s going to take her part.”

Sophia wouldn’t admit she was picking a fight, and she refused to leave with her mother. She kept glancing at Ethan, worried about him.

“Ethan, let’s just go, okay? I don’t need her to apologize. Let’s get out of here.”

If they had to leave, Sophia wanted Ethan to come too. That way, even if he ended up embarrassed, only she and her mom would see it. He wouldn’t have to face everyone else. Plus, she’d already told Natalie to tip off the reporters to come and catch Isabella making a scene. But now, Ethan was the one who’d had the coffee, not Isabella. Sophia needed to get Ethan out of there first, then call Natalie and tell the reporters to leave.

She reached for Ethan’s arm, but he pulled away.

“Mom, take Sophia home. She really needs to be taught a lesson. You can’t keep letting her stir up trouble like this.”

Jennifer nodded. “You should go home too, Ethan. Your face is still bruised. Don’t worry about work. Just rest for a few days.”

She turned to Isabella. “Isabella, Sophia was wrong today. I apologize for her. Whatever Sophia spent here, Ethan will pay you ten times as compensation.”

Without waiting for an answer, Jennifer grabbed Sophia and marched her out of the café.

Isabella accepted the money.

“Isabella, I’m sorry,” Ethan said again. “It’s my fault for how I treated you before. That’s why Sophia keeps targeting you. If I’d looked out for you from the start, nobody would have dared treat you like this.”

He hadn’t protected her, hadn’t spoken up for her, hadn’t given her his trust. That’s why his family never really accepted her, and even now, with the divorce looming, nothing had changed.

No wonder Isabella’s heart had turned cold. She had every reason to want to move on.

“Ethan, what’s done is done. I don’t want to talk about the past anymore. All we have to do now is wait for the cooling-off period to end and get our divorce papers.”
