“When they need money, I give it. When there’s a payout, I collect. Honestly, I never really pay attention. If Douglas hadn’t told me, I wouldn’t even know what’s going on.”
Laura grinned. “Same here. We just found out ourselves. I’ve been at the hospital with Isabella, so I haven’t had the energy to follow all the updates. I just told everyone to drop good news in the group chat if there was any. If Douglas has already heard, then the show must really be blowing up.”
Linda’s voice was warm. “Is Isabella feeling better today? I wanted to drop by after work. Things are so hectic during the day, I couldn’t find a spare moment. I figured she was probably resting and didn’t want to disturb her, so I called you instead.”
She hadn’t expected Laura to actually be there with Isabella.
“She’s much better today. She can get out of bed and walk around a bit. Don’t worry about coming if you’re busy. She knows you’re all thinking of her.”
“We’re friends,” Linda said easily. “If a friend’s in the hospital, you make time to visit, no matter what. Don’t order dinner tonight. I’ll call my butler in a bit and have him whip up something special for Isabella and bring it to the hospital for you all.”
“Linda, that’s too much trouble. Isabella’s uncle is already bringing us dinner.”
“Tell Isabella’s uncle he can take a break tonight. Cynthia’s with you too, right? I’ll have my butler send enough for three.”
Laura handed her phone to Isabella, explaining that Linda wanted to send food and telling her to talk to Linda herself.
