“Hasn’t she done enough for you?” Jordan’s voice rang out, sharp with anger. “Think about everything she’s given up for this family. Is this really how you thank her? No wonder you’ve been so generous with Cynthia lately. You’re just trying to make up for cheating on her, aren’t you? You feel guilty, so you throw her some property and hope it’ll fix everything. Cynthia is too naive. She saves every penny for you, barely spends anything, and meanwhile you’re out there blowing money on some other woman. Honestly, I feel sorry for her.”
It was strange how people could come together when they had a common enemy. Even Jordan and Natalie, who never seemed to agree on anything, were both on Cynthia’s side now, calling Jackson out for what he’d done.
Jackson didn’t bother defending himself. He just grabbed his phone, shut his laptop, and stood up to leave. Jordan trailed after him.
When they got home, Jackson told the housekeeper not to let anyone else in, no matter what. He didn’t want the staff hearing about any of this. It was family business, and nobody else needed to know.
Inside, Ethan and Isabella were waiting, and Natalie had already heard everything. Jackson could feel the judgment in their eyes. It made his skin crawl.
He went straight to Cynthia and sat down next to her. Her eyes were swollen from crying, and when she saw him, she turned away.
“Cynthia, let me explain,” Jackson started. “Those photos aren’t real. I would never do something like that to you.”
Ethan spoke up, not bothering to hide his anger. “It’s easy to find out if the photos are fake. Just get someone to check them.”
“Jordan, watch your mouth!” Jackson snapped, his anger boiling over. “This is my business. All of you, get out.”
Jordan started to say something else, but Natalie grabbed his arm and shook her head, signaling him to let it go.
Ethan glared at Jackson, then pulled Isabella to her feet. “Come on, Isabella, let’s go,” he said quietly but with an edge in his voice. “Don’t worry. As long as I’m here, nobody is going to hurt Mom. If anyone tries, they’ll regret it.”
Ethan led Isabella out. As they left, Isabella glanced back at Cynthia. Cynthia looked up too, and for a moment, their eyes met. That was all the reassurance Isabella needed. The plan she’d given Cynthia was working perfectly, and Cynthia was carrying it out without leaving any evidence behind.
