Isabella paused for a moment before saying, “It’s not just hard to be a daughter-in-law in a rich family. Even in regular families, there’s always drama between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.”
Once they finished the pizza, Laura pulled a thick stack of cash from her bag. “The second series starts shooting tomorrow. I went to the bank and got cash for everyone. Here’s to good luck for the new production.”
“I was just thinking I’d need to grab some cash after work,” Isabella replied. She got up to wash her hands, then headed over to her desk and took out a stack of red envelopes from the drawer.
They sat together, filling the envelopes with cash. The ones for the leads and the director were a bit fatter. The rest of the team got the same amount.
With everything ready for the kick-off tomorrow, they turned their attention to some of the newly edited scenes. Laura watched with a big grin. “The chemistry between the leads is amazing. He’s so handsome, and she’s gorgeous.”
Isabella smiled, feeling proud. “They’re exactly what I pictured. I really think our show is going to do well once it goes online.”
“It’s going to blow up. I can feel it,” Laura said.
Isabella laughed. “I hope so.”
While the two of them were caught up in work, Natalie returned home, calling out for Cynthia as soon as she walked through the door.
The butler hurried over. “Miss Cynthia isn’t home.”
With no way to use her pregnancy to get what she wanted, Natalie found the days dragging by, each one harder than the last.
Meanwhile, Isabella was thriving. The second series started filming, and she was busy from morning until night. If Ethan wanted to see her, he had to come all the way to the set.
Time passed quickly, and in what felt like no time at all, two weeks had flown by. Isabella’s first short series was set to go live that Saturday, perfect for everyone to catch up on their shows over the weekend.
A lot had happened in those two weeks. The doctors confirmed that Natalie’s pregnancy wasn’t progressing. Following their advice, she had to end it. Her mother came to take care of her afterward. Even if Cynthia had been home, Natalie wouldn’t have let her help, worried that she might mess with her food and ruin her chances of getting pregnant again.
When Jackson heard that his first grandchild hadn’t made it, he was disappointed, but he didn’t say much. He just offered Jordan a few quiet words of comfort.
