“Her family always spoiled her, but honestly, that was mostly thanks to Jordan and Ethan. With Ethan not treating her the way he used to, and Jordan cheating on her, it’s no surprise she’s falling apart. The difference must be overwhelming.”
“She’s acting like a wild animal, ready to snap at anyone who crosses her path. I heard things aren’t sunny at the Lane house, either. Deborah, Mandy, and Kevin aren’t easy to deal with, and the three of them have teamed up to make her life miserable.”
“Jackson has always played favorites, you know. He dotes on Deborah so much, he doesn’t even care about Jordan anymore, let alone Natalie.”
“She had it coming,” Cynthia said. “Thank goodness I stepped back when I did, or that house would be nothing but chaos. Deborah isn’t someone you mess with and Jackson absolutely adores her.”
The wedding was just a week away.
Deborah wanted a huge celebration and Jackson, completely wrapped around her finger, said yes. Invitations went out everywhere, and both Cynthia and Isabella got theirs straight from Deborah herself.
“Mom, are you really going to the wedding?” Isabella asked, tossing the invitation on the table without bothering to open it.
She glanced over at her mother, who barely looked her age. She honestly resembled Isabella’s older sister more than her mom. With looks like hers, it was no wonder Isabella turned out so pretty.
“They invited me for drinks and cake, so why shouldn’t I go?” Cynthia replied. “It’s not like our divorce was dramatic. I kept things calm, just insisted we split and that was it. I’ll show up, hand over a little red envelope, eat, drink, and enjoy watching Jordan and Natalie sulk. If they’re upset, I’m happy. Sometimes, it takes one villain to take down another. Natalie really needs someone like Deborah to keep her in check.”
