Chapter 423 Stop it!
With composure, James gave her a look, and Chloe noticed a man in a plaid shirt seated diagonally across from her.
She patted James' shoulder, whispering, "Don't worry. I've got this."
As the dishes began to be served, Chloe stood up, holding a glass of orange juice.
"Everyone, we're all colleagues now. Hope we can have a great time working together," she said.
She downed the orange juice in one go, prompting an older colleague to tease her. "Chloe, why are you drinking orange juice? If you're toasting, you should be drinking alcohol!"
"I'm sorry. I'm allergic to alcohol. Please bear with me," she replied.
"Is that so? Then you should drink a few more rounds to get used to it!"
There were always those in the workplace who enjoyed pressuring others to drink.
Chloe chose to ignore him.
"Just focus on your wine. I'll ensure the entire restaurant is well-stocked with wine."
James' cold voice caused the man who had just pressured Chloe to drink to shiver.
Midway through the dinner, seeing everyone engaged in conversation, Chloe gave James a knowing look, left her seat, and approached the man in the plaid shirt.
"Hello, I'm Chloe. You're from the Marketing Department, right? Mr. Dale wants me to transfer there later. There are some things I don't understand. Can you explain them to me?"
Men were most susceptible to flattery, especially from a beautiful woman like Chloe.
She merely had to speak a few words of admiration, and the man was immediately charmed.
Chloe engaged him in conversation and quickly determined that he was a boastful fool. Dealing with such a person was easy.
Harold, seated on the other side, occasionally topped off his drink.
Chloe and Harold worked together, and soon, the man was so drunk he could barely speak clearly.
"Do you need to go to the bathroom? Well, nature’s calling."
Harold feigned urgency, leading the man to the restroom.
Tipsy, the man nodded.
At the sight, Chloe stood up, swiftly pocketing the phone he left on the table. "I'll go, too!"
The man didn't even realize he needed his phone and followed Harold out the door.
In the women's restroom, Chloe took out tools from her makeup bag and swiftly dismantled the man's cell phone.
Although installing software directly was simpler, it was easily detected.
Affixing it to the phone's back panel was safer because one rarely opened it unless necessary.
Chloe didn't dare delay, so she quickly packed up and restored the phone before she headed back to the private room.
He sauntered over, draping an arm around Chloe's shoulders.
Michael watched from the side, his tolerance wearing thin. Seeing the man's drunken audacity, Michael mistook it for an attempt to harass Chloe. Thus, Michael punched the man's face.
"Michael, what the hell are you doing?!"
The man in the plaid shirt found himself abruptly thrust against the railing on the second floor because of Michael's blow.
"Who do you think you are, huh? Touching her like that? Do you even know who she is?" Michael snapped.
Chloe felt her heart lurch.
Everything had been going according to plan, but now, with the situation disrupted, she was at a loss as to how to return the phone.
The man in the plaid shirt shook his head and squinted, his anger rising.
"Who the hell do you think you are?"
His anger flared up due to the sudden punch from Michael.
Michael could not tolerate such a jerk challenging him, so he moved forward.
Chloe stepped between them, not wanting things to spiral out of control.
Then she shouted, "Enough, Michael!"
