As Chloe started to head upstairs, Michael called out, “When did you interview at Bright Moon International?”

Chloe replied smoothly, lying without a blink. 

Michael never really paid attention to her

“Michael, why do you always assume I’m only good for serving coffee and water?” Chloe asked, her frustration evident.

Wendy said, though her delight was clear. Chloe could see how happy the jewelry made her mother. 

“Mom, when the weather cools down, I’ll ask the doctor if you can go out for a walk!” Chloe suggested. 

Wendy had been confined to the hospital for years. 

But with her condition stabilizing. 

Maybe soon, they could enjoy some time outside. 

“Really?” Wendy’s eyes sparkled with hope. 

“Really!” Chloe confirmed with a smile. 

As she peeled fruit for Wendy, Chloe heard her mother say, “Chloe, don’t worry about what Madeline said last time. If you don’t want Maya to join Paramount Airlines, just say no. Don’t do it just because of me.” 

Chloe was surprised Wendy brought up the topic again. 

She offered Wendy a slice of apple. 

“Mom, it’s fine. Michael has already agreed. If Maya’s not capable, Michael will handle it,” she reassured. 

The reason she hadn’t refused Madeline outright was because Maya was set to join Paramount Airlines. 

It didn’t affect her since she was no longer at Paramount Airlines. 

If Michael wanted to take on this headache, why should she rush to help him solve it?
