Chapter 21: The Banquet 

Chloe had just stepped into Candy’s place when she heard her say, “Get ready. There’s a party tonight and we’re going together.” 

“Another party?” 

She’s off to another party today. 

Candy was puzzled. “Again?” 

Did someone else invite her to the party too? 

“The party’s packed with big shots, a real boost for the team. If things go well, you’ll snag your second mission after coming back.”

Chloe’s job was unique–if she wanted to make money, she had to constantly meet new people. 

If she stays home all day, she won’t be able to make a living with 

this. 

Candy noticed Chloe’s hesitation and pointed at her. “You’re coming, no matter what. If you still want to be a Jioleek, then get it together.” 

Chloe’s constant moping was driving Candy nuts.

Chloe had to get ready for tonight’s party. She grabbed a dress 

from her closet that was just above her knees. 

Her hair cascaded casually over her shoulders, exuding an effortless elegance and her unique charm. 

She dressed simply, but her carefully chosen jewelry made her look effortlessly elegant. 

Candy eyed Chloe as she did a twirl. “Chloe, that red dress is so sexy on you, it’s almost criminal!” 

If everyone were like Chloe, stylists and makeup artists would be out of a job. 

Michael had a thing for Lucy. It was so weird. 

Chloe felt she was blowing things out of proportion. 

Candy said, “A mysterious VIP is showing up at the event today. Be ready to act when the time comes.” 

“Big shot?” 

Candy saw that Chloe was genuinely clueless and waved her hand. “By the way, Quinn’s coming with us too.” 

As they stepped outside, they saw Quinn standing at the door in 

ย sleek black suit, his usual black–rimmed glasses notably 

absent.

His eyes were stunning. If it weren’t for his lips, she might not have recognized him at all. 

“Quinn?” Chloe blinked. 

Is this guy seriously that handsome? 

Quinn looked at her, said nothing, and simply gave a slight nod. 

The three of them arrived at the banquet hall together. Sure enough, Chloe spotted Michael inside. 

The woman in the white dress beside him was Lucy. 

Chloe was surprised to find herself at the same party as those 

two. 

Chloe wasn’t happy. She turned away, refusing to engage. 

Candy elbowed her instead. 

“Your ex always knows how to steal the spotlight, doesn’t he?” 

Candy teased Chloe with a mocking grin. 

Chloe didn’t really react to Candy’s tone. Everyone agreed that Michael was undeniably handsome. 

Otherwise, Lucy wouldn’t have set her sights on Michael. 

Michael scanned the room and finally spotted Chloe in the

He walked up to Chloe. “What are you doing here?” 

She said she wouldn’t come.
