A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 750

Starla aggressively tapped the screen, dialing the number once more.

Again, she was met with the blunt *beep* of a disconnected line. He could send her messages, but she was completely shut out.

Furious, she typed a response: [If you're half the man you pretend to be, come back here and finalize the divorce!]

This coward. Of all the pathetic stunts he could pull, he chose to run away and hide.

Who was he trying to impress?

It was absolutely ridiculous.

She hit send, but a red exclamation mark immediately popped up. Message failed to send.

So, he had her blocked, could harass her with cryptic warnings, but she couldn't even fire a single shot back?

If he decided to text her a string of insults right now, she’d have to just sit there and take it?

Fairfax Yelchin was an absolute scumbag!

Frustrated, she walked out of the restroom.

As she approached the sinks in the hallway, she heard a familiar voice. Herbert was on the phone.

His tone was dangerously low, carrying a lethal warning. "I didn't think you'd still have the means to find this out after being suppressed so badly."

Suppressed? Find out?...

What was he talking about?

Especially the word 'suppressed' instantly triggered alarms in her head. She had just spent weeks ruthlessly suppressing the Yelchin empire!

And Herbert had been aiding in cutting off Fairfax's resources.

Thinking of the two texts she had just received, could the person on the other end of the line be Fairfax?

As the thoughts raced through her mind...

Herbert spoke again. "You didn't call me just to expose this to Starla, did you?"

Expose... to her? Starla's knuckles turned white as she gripped the edge of the marble sink.

What was he talking about?

What was he so terrified of her finding out? What was he hiding?

When Herbert walked back into the VIP lounge, he saw Garret standing alone. Starla was nowhere in sight.

Seeing him, Garret greeted respectfully, "Mr. Farley."

"Where's Starla?"

"She went to the restroom."

She went to the restroom too?

A muscle feathered in Herbert’s jaw, and his heart gave a violent lurch.

"We board in about twenty minutes. We'll head straight to the plane once she returns," Garret added.

Herbert gave a distracted hum of acknowledgment.

His eyes darted anxiously toward the corridor leading to the restrooms.

Moments later, Starla reappeared.

Her posture was relaxed, and her expression was completely normal. Even from a distance, he could see that she looked perfectly at ease, showing no signs that anything was wrong.
