A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 708

"After surviving so much damage, how could I not learn a thing or two?" Starla replied.

"Even without you or Hoggart Group, I would have made my move against Brinley eventually..."

She paused, thinking it over.

"I don't doubt that," Herbert said.

The fact that she managed to run a massive bio-tech company and multiple studios right under Fairfax's nose proved she was incredibly strategic. Taking down Brinley wouldn't have been too difficult for her.

"But with you and Yardley stepping in, everything went much faster and smoother," Starla admitted.

After all, Hoggart Group had been keeping Fairfax completely pinned down lately.

If Herbert and Hoggart Group hadn't been in the picture, Fairfax would have absolutely protected Brinley the moment Starla made her first move.

It was Herbert and Yardley Hoggart's interference that had entirely stripped Brinley of Fairfax's protection.

Herbert didn't directly acknowledge the compliment. Instead, he asked, "Did Fairfax bring up the divorce when he came back today?"

"No. I'm guessing he still doesn't want to hand over Yelchin Group."

Speaking of Fairfax...

Starla had to admit, the man had an absurd amount of patience. Even when the Yelchin elders were completely losing their minds, he somehow managed to keep stalling.

She didn't even know what the point of dragging it out was.

"If you ask me, you should just drop Yelchin Group and finalize the divorce," Herbert suggested.

"Absolutely not."

"If you keep dragging this out, the moment one of those old fossils in the Yelchin family drops dead, his hatred for you is going to take on a whole new meaning."

"You mean he'll blame their deaths on me?"

He would definitely claim she drove them to the grave.

She wanted to be done with Fairfax just as badly as he did.

But as for Fairfax... "I'll give him one more day. Just one last day!"

After a moment of thought, Starla decided to wait.

"The Yelchin elders are already losing their minds. They're probably screaming at him constantly to hand the company over to me. He's probably reached his breaking point!"

After all, the Yelchin family was in total disarray.

Even Annika, the highest-ranking elder, had told him to just surrender Yelchin Group. And then there was the matter of the money...

"One last day, then," Herbert agreed. "No more."

Any further delays would only invite trouble. Knowing Fairfax's talent for creating chaos, Herbert didn't want Starla tangled up with him for another second.

Starla nodded. "Just one more day!"
