"Because he knows for a fact that you killed Faraday. Do you understand now?" Brinley said, her voice shaking.
"He..."
How could he know?
"And he also knows the baby belongs to you!"
Felix froze. He was already terrified, but hearing that plunged him straight into an abyss of absolute horror.
"What did you say?! How could he possibly know any of that?! Did you tell him?!"
His voice cracked into a hysterical shriek on the last sentence. No wonder Fairfax was tearing the Fowler Group apart with such psychotic ferocity. He knew everything.
Two words echoed in Felix's mind: *It's over.*
It was completely over.
He had always known, deep down, while operating in the shadows all those years, that if Fairfax ever linked him to Faraday's death, the Fowler family would be eradicated.
And now, Fairfax didn't just know about the murder—he knew about the baby, too.
It was over. Decades of scheming and climbing the social ladder, all of it gone in an instant.
"You bitch! You told him, didn't you?! Why the hell would you do that?!" Felix screamed, instantly convinced Brinley had sold him out.
"Are you insane? That's my baby too! I know you've been pissed at me lately, but you gave birth to that child!"
Felix knew Brinley harbored some resentment toward him. She wanted out of the Yelchin estate more than anything, but it wasn't like he could just drive up and rescue her. Starla was acting like a total psychopath right now. Even heavyweights like Caden Larson and Darian Lynn were terrified to cross her. If Felix tried to pull Brinley out of that house, Starla would paint a target directly on his back.
Brinley didn't even know what else to say. The regret was consuming her alive. How could she have been so unbelievably blind? How had she ever fallen for a coward like Felix?
"Go find Fairfax right now. Beg him to stop attacking us!" Felix demanded, issuing a hard, desperate order.
"How exactly am I supposed to do that? You're giving me way too much credit. I'm less than nothing in this house now."
It was a brutal, humiliating truth, but Brinley knew it was a fact.
"Then go sleep with him!" Felix ordered.
Brinley froze. "...What?"
All the blood drained from her face. She couldn't believe what she was hearing.
