The elevator arrived, and Fairfax stepped inside. Caden followed, asking casually, “So how is she making your lives miserable?”

“Has your old man worked you into a stupor?” Fairfax shot back. “Something this big happens today, and you haven’t heard?”

“I’ve been swamped,” Caden admitted. “He’s in a hurry for me to take over the company so he can retire.”

If it were up to him, Caden would never take the job. He didn’t want to be stuck in an office all day like Fairfax, with no time for a personal life.
