A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 327

Darleen was on the verge of a complete breakdown. This was all too much. She felt like she was going crazy.

Fairfax’s voice came through the line, cold and final. “I can’t come back right now.”

With that, he hung up. His company was facing a massive crisis, with board members and shareholders breathing down his neck. He was desperately trying to manage the fallout from the Hoggart Group's assault and had no time for the domestic war brewing between Starla and his mother.

Hearing the dial tone, Darleen felt a surge of rage so intense it made her head pound. She didn't care what Fairfax was busy with. She immediately redialed. When he didn't answer, she called again.

Finally, he picked up, his voice laced with ice. “What is all this drama about?”

He felt like he was losing his mind. Not a single person in his life could give him a moment of peace. These women and their endless conflicts were going to be the death of him.

“I’ll tell you what it’s about!” Darleen shrieked. “She threw your grandmother’s belongings out of her room! What do you think she’s planning? Are you sure you want a woman like that to remain part of this family?”

Hearing that, Fairfax was shocked, but more than anything, he was exhausted.

“Get back here right now with a five-billion-dollar divorce agreement!” Darleen pleaded. “Give it to her! Give her whatever she wants! I can’t take this anymore.”

This was only the beginning, and she was already at her breaking point. If Fairfax continued to drag this out, she felt she might not survive it. This wasn't a daughter-in-law; it was a curse!

Fairfax’s breathing was heavy. “I really can’t get away right now.”

“Then maybe I should just die! Is that what you want? She already tried to kill me earlier!”
