A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 273

Before, she would have dismissed Starla’s claim of hiring an international lawyer as a bluff. But now, she believed it. After all, Starla had Herbert backing her.

Darleen couldn't fathom what had possessed Herbert to help this witch so devotedly. Well, let them. Once the divorce was final, she was certain the elders of the Farley family would intervene. They wouldn't let Starla have an easy life.

Darleen closed her eyes and gritted her teeth. "Be at the hospital reception desk tomorrow at nine a.m. to pick it up."

She couldn't bear the thought of Starla setting foot in the Yelchin estate ever again. She would leave the signed divorce agreement at the hospital for her to collect.

She had caved. She had agreed to Starla's outrageous demands. For a long time now, all she'd wanted was for Starla to be out of their lives for good. She remembered a time when she would have agreed to anything just to make that happen. Now, the financial loss was significant, but if it meant this plague would finally be gone from the Yelchin family, it was a price she was willing to pay.

"Alright," Starla said, and then hung up.

Listening to the dial tone, Darleen spat into her phone, "Witch!"

So much money. She had done a quick calculation, and even after moving what assets she could, Starla was still set to walk away with over a billion. It was infuriating.

"Starla, you may have the money, but you won't live to spend it," she muttered to herself.

The thought of Starla heading to prison over the baby's death brought a sliver of comfort. What good was a billion dollars if it was just a number in a bank account she could never touch? Darleen would make sure she never got out.
