A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 27

Garret continued, “By the way, I’ve already released your marriage license with Fairfax Yelchin.”

Starla paused, a flicker of understanding in her eyes. Now she saw why her brother had sent Garret; he had an uncanny ability to anticipate her needs. Just last night, she had decided that releasing the marriage license would be her first move. Garret had already made it happen.

“There’s nothing to discuss,” Starla said coolly. “Regarding the Draken Haven design, proceed with the lawsuit.”

“Understood,” Garret nodded.

“Also, Brinley’s mother, Harriet. What was she doing in Yoran Country?”

Garret replied, “She was there to secure a deal for raw material exports, but Mr. Hoggart has already ordered it to be terminated.”

Hearing that her brother had already intervened, Starla nodded in satisfaction. “Good.”

“Furthermore,” Garret continued, “Mr. Hoggart has frozen her other export projects as well. She should be receiving the news shortly.”

Excellent. A total freeze. Now, would Harriet have the time and energy to meddle on behalf of her precious daughter?

Brinley was so proud of her mother, seeing her as an unshakable fortress of support. Now, she was about to be publicly shamed for coveting her married brother-in-law. Soon, her mother would be dragged into the mud with her.

Brinley loved to throw her weight around; let’s see what power she had left to wield now.

“One more thing,” Starla said. “Have the divorce agreement delivered to Fairfax.”

Three moves at once. Enough to shatter all their lives in an instant.

Garret worked with incredible speed. It was clear he had anticipated Starla’s plans from the moment he received Yardley’s orders. The divorce agreement was already prepared.

“Although you are in no need of anything,” he said respectfully, “Mr. Hoggart’s wish is for you to take half of Fairfax’s assets.”
