A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 262

The moment Starla arrived back at Cosmos Summit, she received a text from an unknown number. It contained only a few words: [It's safer for you on the inside.]

Reading the message, Starla let out a short, sarcastic laugh. She didn't need to call the number to know who had sent it.

Garret followed her into the house. Hearing her sudden laughter, he asked, “What is it, Miss?”

“See for yourself,” she said, handing him the phone.

Garret read the text and his expression soured with disdain.

“From Fairfax, I presume?”

“Who else but that idiot? Have the divorce papers been delivered to him?”

“Don’t worry, they’ve been sent. If all went according to plan, he should have them by now,” Garret confirmed.

Starla nodded. She was truly exhausted from all the drama surrounding the divorce. She never imagined Brinley would be ruthless enough to sacrifice her own child.

History was full of such women, of course, but the Yelchin family didn't exactly have a throne to inherit. To sacrifice her own daughter for a bit of money… Fine, the Yelchins deserved a woman like Brinley. They should keep her under lock and key before she ruined someone else’s life.

Starla sank onto the sofa. A maid quickly appeared and draped a soft blanket over her. Back in her own territory, she finally felt a wave of relief wash over her.

She took Garret’s phone and dialed Darleen’s number. The call was answered quickly, and Darleen’s weary voice came through the line. “Hello?”
