A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 191

The next moment, his kiss was fierce and demanding. Starla tried to dodge, but the more she struggled, the more aggressive Fairfax became. Her scent was intoxicating, pulling him under, making him lose control…

Just as he was about to completely lose himself, the butler rushed in. “Sir!”

The butler froze at the sight, quickly turning his back to them.

Interrupted, Fairfax’s face was dark with fury. “Get out!”

“But there are people outside, sir. From Yoran Country,” the butler stammered, wanting nothing more than to flee. But there were at least fifty of them, a force he couldn’t ignore, forcing him to report it despite the risk.

The mention of Yoran Country snapped Fairfax out of his haze. His expression grim, he pushed himself off Starla. And she immediately sat up on the sofa and, without a second thought, slapped him hard across the face.

Fairfax’s features hardened under the sting of her hand. He grabbed her wrist, his voice low and dangerous. “How many times have you slapped me today?”

Starla tried to yank her arm back, but his grip was like iron. “You could always choose not to get hit,” she retorted.

Faced with her defiance, Fairfax let out a dark laugh. “If my wife wants to hit me, she can hit me. You’ve already fed me poison. What are a couple of slaps compared to that?”

He released her wrist.

“You’re insane! Shameless!” Starla exclaimed. He couldn’t even protect his own wife, yet he thought he could trap her by his side with this madness.

“I’m glad you realize I have no shame,” he purred.

Starla was speechless.
