A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 150

Brinley silently agreed. To her, Starla was nothing more than a common sparrow pretending to be an eagle.

Harriet looked at her daughter. “You need to keep pushing the matter with Xenia. It has to happen, and soon. We have to sever the connection between Starla and Herbert. Without him, Starla’s newfound arrogance will crumble.”

“I know,” Brinley said.

Xenia had already agreed to try and win Herbert over. As long as she could swallow her pride, Brinley was confident it wouldn’t take long.

“Don’t worry, Mom. It will happen soon. And when it does, we’ll tear Starla limb from limb.”

The thought of the gossip and humiliation she had endured in Marina City fueled her hatred. She wanted Starla dead. But first, they had to deal with Herbert.

Harriet nodded, then turned to Clyde. “Prepare for the trip to Yoran Country.”

Clyde bowed, but a flicker of concern crossed his face. “But Quest is still in Fairfax’s hands.”

The name hung in the air like a curse.

Harriet’s expression soured, and Brinley’s face clouded over as well. The mother and daughter exchanged a look.

“I know you resent Quest’s existence,” Harriet said sternly, “but I have to go to Yoran Country. I’m leaving Quest in your hands.”

“Me?” Brinley’s heart sank.
