A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1251

Seeing no response from Susanna, Starla was just about to end the call when the voice on the other end spoke up again.

"If you get thrown away again, you're dead for sure!"

Starla was speechless.

Was she really going to die? It seemed Susanna wanted nothing more than to see her in a coffin.

Without a word, Starla hung up the phone.

Romy looked over at her. "I'm afraid you won't be able to just walk away from Maxlandia now."

Given Susanna's current state of mind, she was definitely going to manipulate Yardley into doing something drastic. Fairfax had been tossed back to Marina City, yet Susanna was kept in Maxlandia. That alone spoke volumes about Yardley's intentions toward her. And with Susanna harboring such intense hatred for Starla, the situation was incredibly dangerous.

"I never planned on having any ties to Maxlandia ever again," Starla said quietly.

"But will your brother listen to her?" Romy's tone was laced with worry.

If it were anyone else, Romy might be able to handle it, but Yardley's men were a different breed entirely. She had already suffered at their hands once before. If Yardley allowed himself to be swayed by Susanna, they would be at a severe disadvantage.

Starla pressed her lips into a thin line, remaining silent.

Would Yardley listen to Susanna? Just as Romy feared, if he was influenced by her, things would take a very dark turn.

"Why do I feel like you've suddenly lost all your fight?" Romy asked, her voice softening with concern.
