The thought of it made his head pound even harder.
Tanya looked at him. "Never say never."
"I've never entertained the idea of marrying Yulisa. It doesn't matter who tries to force me."
It was the truth. He never imagined his entire family was scheming to set him up with her. And he certainly didn't expect Yulisa to cross that line and develop feelings for him! He had been completely oblivious. By the time he found out, the situation had spiraled wildly out of control.
"Just don't worry about it, okay? I'll handle it," he assured her.
"Handle it. You make it sound so easy."
How was he going to fix this? The situation was practically a runaway train, yet he was talking about 'handling' it.
"I've gotten a pretty good taste of how your family operates." Whether he agreed or not, her presence meant they would inevitably force him to marry Yulisa to get rid of the 'threat'. "I never thought someone as insignificant as me could cause such a massive uproar in the Lynn household."
They were actively pressuring him all because of her. It was as if they were terrified he might actually end up with her.
At the word 'uproar', Darian pinched the bridge of his nose. "It's because of your connection to Starla." And the fact that they were close friends. To put it bluntly, what Starla had done to the Yelchin family had thoroughly spooked his own family.
Hearing this, Tanya let out an amused laugh. "I don't have Starla's abilities. She had plenty of people protecting her from the start."
When she went up against the Yelchin family, she hadn't been entirely alone. She had Herbert Farley and the Hoggart family backing her up... Unlike Tanya, who had absolutely no one in her corner.
