A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1112

"Stop it!" Fairfax snapped, his temper flaring. He refused to accept Starla's death.

Something felt off about Herbert Farley's behavior that day, and the way Rudolf handled the aftermath. He suspected Herbert had taken her.

No, he didn't just suspect it—deep down, he believed it.

"You're going to get yourself killed!" Susanna cried, desperate. He had no chance against someone as unhinged as Yardley.

"Maybe that's for the best. I'd like her to collect my body," Fairfax replied. Even in death, he didn't want to sever ties with her.

"Do you honestly think she would?"

He knew she wouldn't. Even if Starla were alive, she wouldn't show up for his funeral. But he just missed her so damn much.

"Think about Xenia and the others!" Susanna pressed. She needed him to end this before Yardley arrived.
