"Didn't Sierra know she would've brought shame to the Gray family when she stole Hayley's ring?"
"From what I heard, the Shaw family doesn't even have a place to stay. She must've done it because she desperately needed money."
"Didn't she marry Mr. Gray? Why would she ever run out of money when she has the Gray family backing her?"
"He's forced to marry her. He wouldn't have given her a single penny."
…
The young ladies' gossipy voices grew louder, attracting the other party guests' attention. Before long, a crowd huddled around Sierra.
Regarding the unfriendly glances from everyone, she felt a little frantic. She searched for Theo in the crowd, hoping that he would whisk her away from this place.
"Ms. Shaw, how could you have done something like this?" Melody stood in her way and wore a disapproving expression on her face. Eventually, she added helplessly, "You should apologize to Ms. Jenkins now."
"Do you think an apology is going to cut it?" Tessa appeared out of nowhere and scoffed. Then, she looked at Sierra and said icily, "You committed theft in the Jones family's banquet. You owe an apology to Melody as well."
Melody gave Sierra a troubled look and said understandingly, "Theo and I are friends. So, no apology is necessary. However, she took Ms. Jenkins' ring. Ms. Shaw, you're going to have to show her how sorry you are."
When everyone heard how sensible and compassionate Melody was, they praised her for demonstrating benevolence and empathy. Then, all of them pushed Sierra to apologize.
"Ms. Jones forgave you for messing up her banquet. You should hurry up and apologize."
"She didn't have the guts to own up to what she did. How repulsive."
"She's looking a little familiar to me. Was she the lady who stood next to Mr. Gray earlier?"
"She's Mr. Gray's newly married wife. I didn't take her for a thief, though."
The CEOs next to him smiled knowingly when they saw his reaction, but they cursed internally, scoffing at the notion that the cunning old coot would've happily sold his daughter if it meant securing his own interest.
...
Meanwhile, Douglas also saw the quandary Sierra was in. He instantly grumbled internally when he heard that she had stolen Hayley's stuff.
"Sierra ought to see the occasion she was in. She could've asked Theo for anything, and he would've granted her. Why did she have to resort to stealing? What a shallow-minded lady," he thought.
With that said, Sierra was Theo's wife now. If she did something to humiliate herself, it would drag him down as well. As Theo's best friend, Douglas hurriedly turned around and looked for Theo.
Hayley snatched her ring from Lauren. After taking a closer look at it and confirming that it was hers, she affectionately wiped it and put it on.
Melody saw Hayley's actions and said with a smile, "Ms. Jenkins, we've found your ring now. Perhaps we should just drop the whole thing. Ms. Shaw didn't mean to steal it, probably."
