A Surprising Twist of Fates (Sierra and Theo) novel Chapter 381

Yvette teased Sierra so much that she came very close to bolting to her room out of sheer embarrassment.

Meanwhile, Daniel and Simon stood back and watched as the event unfolded. From time to time, they would glance at Melody, who stood behind them. When they saw how she had her gaze fixed on Theo, they couldn't help but shake their heads.

As she was intelligent, it was baffling how she failed to understand that she couldn't force happiness.

More importantly, a guy like Theo knew what he liked and didn't like. He was different from the other guys who would feel moved just because a lady was obsessed with them.

Instead, Theo would find Melody repulsive because of the problems she brought him. Eventually, he would steer clear of her.

Melody gazed greedily at Theo's tall, straight figure for a long time before she turned away. Looking at Sierra coldly, she asked, "Ms. Shaw, I'm curious about something. You were set to marry Benson. How did you end up with Theo instead?"

Before Sierra could respond, Melody continued with a sharp tone, "Did the Shaw family run into some issue on the business front? Was that why you needed to marry into the Gray family? To get some sort of benefits?

"As a matter of fact, you didn't have to do something like that to overcome business hurdles. You're free to seek help from my family anytime you want. There's no need to sacrifice your marriage."

Now that Theo wasn't around anymore, Melody didn't feel the need to conceal her animosity for Sierra. She mocked Sierra for latching onto the Gray family, expressing her disdain for the Shaw family every chance she got.

The look on the faces of Daniel and the others shifted slightly. They cast a concerned glance at Sierra, thinking that her eyes might redden. However, things went a little differently than they thought.

"Ms. Jones, your concerns are unfounded. We don't need an outsider to weigh in on the Shaw and Gray family matters.

"As for Benson, we parted ways amicably. When I was single again, Theo approached me and begged me to marry him. I gave it careful consideration before agreeing to it.

"The Shaw family wasn't the only one thrilled about our marriage. Grandpa Edward was very excited as well.

"Ms. Jones, is there something you don't understand or feel curious about? I'll be glad to answer your questions." Sierra rose to her feet, letting her cold hands dangle by her sides as she met Melody's taunting gaze with a sharp, unwavering stare.

Douglas parted his lips, intending to explain himself. However, he was drawing a blank. He did handle today's matter poorly. With that said, he did it for Melody's sake. He wouldn't allow her to be picked on, not even by his best pal.

"You've only known Sierra for a few days. You two might've gotten married, but there is no real love in…"

"Douglas Brown!" Theo snarled at Douglas when he noticed how the man was getting more out of line.

Douglas immediately stopped talking, and panic and remorse flashed in his eyes. He tousled his hair frustratingly and continued softly, "Theo, you can lash out at me all you want. Just show Melody some respect. Don't break her heart."

Theo looked at Douglas, who was practically pleading with him. Frowning, he commented in a deep voice, "Make a move on her if you have feelings for her. Don't miss out on her and regret it later."

Douglas knew that this was Theo's way of giving consent. A wave of gratitude washed over him, and he gave him a firm pat on the shoulder. "Thanks, buddy."

"I will show you some respect, but you better keep a leash on her." Theo took two steps forward and suddenly stopped. His tone was laced with menace as he spoke. "From here on out, I want you to mind your attitude toward Sierra."
