"Cayden, wait for me!" Felicia chased after Cayden as he walked away without looking back.
She refused to give up, continuing, "Do you really like Sierra so much that you can't stand seeing her with another man?"
He suddenly stopped in his tracks. His warm expression was replaced with anger as he responded, "You've overstepped your boundary, Felicia."
At the sight of his cold expression, Felicia's eyes welled up with tears. She bit her lip, feeling wronged. "I just want you to face reality. Sierra is married.
"You don't have any chance with her anymore. Why can't you consider me?"
Cayden paled as the pain flashed in his eyes. Calmly looking at her, he answered, "If you know she's married, then stop spreading rumors. If you cause her trouble with your words, I won't let it slide."
Even now, he was still protecting Sierra.
Felicia felt a mix of grief and fury, thinking about how their teacher had recently questioned her about the anonymous campus posts. She had a gnawing feeling that the truth was about to be exposed.
Once they found out that she was the one behind it, she could face the consequences ranging from a formal reprimand to expulsion. If she did not confess her feelings now, she might lose the chance to ever tell him that she liked Cayden.
Even though he had made his stance clear, she still refused to give up. Wiping her tears, she looked at him earnestly. "Cayden, I never meant to cause trouble for Sierra. I just like you. Can't you give us a chance?"
His face remained emotionless. He wasn't surprised at all as he swiftly rejected her. "I don't like you."
He didn't spare her another glance. She stood there and covered her face as she broke into sobs. In the end, another classmate, who happened to pass by, helped her back to the dormitory.
…
A few days later, she was called to the teacher's office again. This time, the dean, Louis, was also present.
Louis slammed the desk once more. His voice turned even harsher as he queried, "As if that gives you the right to spread false rumors? You…"
Felicia burst into tears, overwhelmed by fear and regret. If she had known how serious the consequences would be, she never would have made those posts targeting Sierra.
As the victim in all of this, Sierra was also called to the office. When she saw Felicia sobbing, she wasn't surprised. "So it really was you."
In her state of panic, Felicia was no longer jealous as she desperately pleaded, "Sierra, I was wrong. Please forgive me this once. I swear, it won't happen again."
Glancing at Sierra, Louis sighed. "Sierra, we've completed our investigation. She made those defamatory posts.
"We've decided that she will write a public apology and apologize to you in front of all the students. We'll publish this incident on the school website as a warning to others."
