Janet's face immediately darkened.
"Then, what do you want? Do you really want Benson to be detained and have a criminal record? You're absolutely heartless."
"Heartless?" Sierra let out a laugh, anger simmering beneath her cold expression. "He's harassed me time and time again. The first time, he tricked me into going to a hotel and had people attack me—I forgave him.
"And now, he ambushed me in front of my school and assaulted the senior who tried to help me. Do you think I forced him to do all that?"
Her face was composed, but the chill in her eyes could cut through bone.
Liam spoke gently. "Sierra, you're right. Covering the medical expenses is the least we can do. Benson made a mistake, and he should be punished for it.
"I know asking you to forgive him is too much, but Sierra, please, do me this favor. Give him one more chance. I promise you, I won't let him hurt you again."
Sierra frowned, replying solemnly, "Mr. Gray, it's not that I don't respect you, but Benson has gone too far this time."
"Sierra, don't push it!" Janet snapped, unable to hold back her frustration. "We're your elders, and we've already humbled ourselves to apologize—what more do you want?
"Weren't you the one shamelessly clinging to Benson back then? He's spent so much money on you over the years, and now that you've latched onto Theo, you want to throw Benson away?"
Seeing that Sierra still refused to budge, Janet lost her temper completely.
But Janet shook him off impatiently. "Enough! Stop begging her—it's useless. She has no intention of letting Benson go!"
"William has been trying to marry you off to Benson for the sake of his own benefit. I told Benson from the start that a woman like you was unworthy of being his wife! But he was too soft-hearted, too stubborn about being with you. He even fought with me because of you.
"And now, you turn around and betray him like this? Do you think you were ever worthy of his sincerity?"
"Excuse me, Karen, but could you show some respect when you speak?" Madison couldn't stand it anymore. She shot up from her chair and glared at Janet.
"Karen?" Janet's face twisted in anger. Her sharp eyes landed on Madison. "Where did this insolent woman come from? Do you think you have the right to speak here?"
