As William spoke, a murderous glint flashed in his eyes, showing just how much he despised Sierra.
Vera had bitten down so hard on her lip that it was bleeding. She struggled to push herself up from the floor, sitting upright with difficulty.
William looked at her with pure disgust and sneered coldly. "That daughter of yours doesn't care about you anymore. Think about it—you begged me not to abandon her back then. You gave her everything, and now? She's already starting to cast you aside."
A flicker of pain flashed through Vera's eyes.
It was not pain for herself, but pain for William's cruelty.
She wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and said softly, "I'm useless, I can't help you. As for Cee and Benson, there's no way for them to be together after everything that's happened. Just stop forcing her."
"That's not an option. If she won't marry Benson, she'll marry someone else. She brought me so much misfortune back then, and she has to make up for it now. Do you think I don't know you've been secretly giving her money?
"I didn't call you out because she's still useful to the Shaw family. But if she refuses to obey me, just watch how I'll deal with her. As for you, you won't have a good ending either."
William's voice was filled with fury, his expression fierce and menacing.
Vera trembled violently, and fear flashed in her eyes. She knew all too well how ruthless William could be. He was more than capable of carrying out his threats.
"Sierra has really lost her mind. She actually called the police on Benson? Does she think she can do whatever she wants just because Mr. Gray Senior likes her? No matter what, Mr. Gray Senior will always value his own grandson more."
William had received a call from Janet that morning, telling him that Benson had gone to see Sierra. Things had escalated, and he had put his hands on her—so she called the police.
That made him hesitate.
Vera braced herself against the nearby table and slowly stood up, her whole body trembling from the pain. Even her voice shook slightly as she spoke. "William, Cee and Benson will never be together again. But if she marries Theo instead, wouldn't that be even better?
"Theo is the president of Gray Group—his status, power, and ability far surpass Benson's. If Cee becomes his wife, wouldn't it be much easier for the Shaw family to get help from him?"
William's expression turned dark and unreadable as he listened.
Theo's status was something Benson could never hope to match.
