A Surprising Twist of Fates (Sierra and Theo) novel Chapter 155

"Does that mean you failed your duty as a wife, then? After all, you only gave birth to a son.

"Moreover, I came to learn that you usually spend your time doing beauty treatments and playing poker. It doesn't sound like you stay at home and look after Mr. Gray either." Sierra winked and said with a smile, deliberately nitpicking Janet's words.

"Why, you!" Janet got so mad that she couldn't formulate a comeback.

"I can't meet your demands, Mrs. Gray. If you don't like me, feel free to pick another lady who's obedient to be Benson's wife." Sierra ignored Janet's outburst and said nonchalantly.

"Watch your tongue, Sierra!" William's expression turned grim, and he could no longer remain seated on the couch. He would've flown into a rage if it wasn't for the fact that they were at Gray Manor.

"Janet is kind enough to teach you how to be a good wife. You have to be humble and accept her advice."

"I can't learn what she has just taught me. It would be better for everyone if she found herself someone who could. That ought to make her happier." Sierra protested emotionlessly.

Janet was about to throw a fit, but Benson interrupted her, "I'm not marrying Cee just so she will become my maid, Mom. Instead, I want to live the rest of my life with her as my wife.

"All she has to do is stay by my side, and I'll be happy as a clam. We have our own way to live our lives. I hope you won't interfere too much."

Janet was beside herself with rage when she heard what he said.

Benson was a completely different person these days. In the past, Janet would comment on Sierra's shortcomings, and he would ask her to correct her behaviors. Now, however, he was defending Sierra every time he opened his mouth.

Janet glared at Sierra viciously. Her eyes were brimming with resentment.

"Benson's right. We might be elders, but we can't interfere with how the younger generations live their lives. Back when you married into our family, Linds and I had never asked you to do anything either.

"Please don't be upset, Mr. Gray. Sierra has her own faults, too. Actually, everyone means well. All of us want her and Benson to live a better life." William chuckled to defuse the tension.

Edward's eyes darkened. Anyone else would've been enraged after they heard what Janet said. However, William had never spoken up for Sierra for the entire time. All he cared about was making her apologize.

Edward would never have asked William to be here if Bobby was still around. At the end of the day, however, William and Vera were still Sierra's parents. He did his late friend a favor and paid them some respect.

However, that didn't change the fact that William's behaviors were disheartening.

Edward felt more heartbroken for Sierra the more he dwelled on his thoughts. When he noticed that she lowered her head, he thought Janet's words saddened her.

So, he said warmly, "I won't let you feel sorry for yourself, Cee. I'll take you to Northridge Estates tomorrow and give you one of the villas as a gift. Just tell me which villa you like, and you will be its sole owner."
