Sierra's eyes widened in surprise. She quickly stood up from the sofa and walked to the balcony. Sure enough, she saw Theo's car parked outside her neighborhood.
Even from such a distance, she could almost feel his intense gaze on her.
Her previously calm heart began to pound rapidly.
When had he arrived? How long had he been waiting?
Her phone vibrated in her hand. She looked down and saw that it was a call from Theo.
She pursed her lips and hesitated momentarily before answering the call.
"Why aren't you coming down?" Theo's deep voice came through the speaker, making him sound as if he was right in front of her.
She decided to decline and said softly, "Uncle Theo, I'm feeling a bit tired today. I want to rest at home and not go out."
Silence fell on the other end of the line, making her palms sweat nervously.
A few seconds later, his voice sounded again. "You don't want to see me, don't you?"
"No, that's not it," she denied.
His clear voice sounded again. "Then, you're afraid to see me. Is it because of what I said yesterday? Did I scare you?"
She bit her lips lightly, her palms damp with nervous sweat. She replied softly, "I've already forgotten what you said yesterday. I'm really just tired from practicing and want to rest at home."
Her tone was evasive.
She was rejecting him.
"Since you're tired, rest well then."
Theo looked up at the woman standing on the balcony with dark eyes.
He pressed his lips together, and when he spoke again, his voice was slightly hoarse. The hoarseness in his voice only added to his originally raspy voice, making her heart skip a beat.
Or was it as how Madison had speculated, and he did indeed have some kind of secret disease?
Sierra shook her head, trying to shake off the chaotic thoughts swirling in her mind.
Theo watched as the curtains were drawn and how Sierra had run away in a flurry. The corners of his lips curved up slightly.
He would give her some time to slowly accept the idea of him.
However, Benson could no longer stay patient and went to the Gray Manor the next afternoon.
"Grandpa, let's invite the Shaw family over for dinner tonight and set a date for my wedding with Sierra."
Edward nodded upon hearing Benson's suggestion. "That's a good idea. I'll call your uncle later and ask him to free up some time to come back tonight."
Benson's eyes flickered as he mentioned, "Grandpa, I'll call Uncle Theo myself. It's my wedding, and I want to inform everyone personally."
