A Surprising Twist of Fates (Sierra and Theo) novel Chapter 143

Madison flipped her maroon hair back and poured Sierra and herself a cup of water.

Then, she lay back on the couch and asked with a smile, "Cee, aren't you supposed to be practicing piano in school? What made you come all the way here?"

Pursing her lips, Sierra took a deep breath before answering, "Uncle Theo has asked me to marry him."

Madison, who was drinking water, spat all of it out upon hearing Sierra's words.

Quickly setting her glass down, Sierra proceeded to hand Madison a tissue.

Madison wiped her mouth hastily, then looked at Sierra in utter shock. "What did you just say? Are you saying that Theo had just proposed to you?"

Sierra's face was slightly flushed, and she hurriedly explained, "It wasn't a proposal. He just asked me to marry him."

"Isn't that the same thing?" Madison asked, confused.

Seeing that she had misunderstood, Sierra explained the whole situation from beginning to end. "Uncle Theo had only said that so that I could stop getting harassed by Benson."

Madison covered her mouth and smiled. "What kind of ‘good man' would actually sacrifice their own marriage just to help someone else?

"Marriage is a lifelong decision! Theo must like you. Otherwise, he would not have suggested a marriage."

Sierra pressed her lips together tightly, saying nothing.

Growing anxious, Madison continued further "My silly little Cee, please don't tell me you really can't tell that Theo treats you differently?"

Sierra lowered her eyes, her fingers clenching lightly. She wasn't stupid. How could she not feel it? She just did not believe that Theo could truly like her.

So, she looked up and explained, "Just because he treats me differently doesn't mean that he has feelings for me. Perhaps Uncle Theo just pities me, or maybe there's some other reason behind his actions."

"Cee, I've actually already looked into Theo's love life. He has never been in a relationship, and he does not have any women by his side. A man like that is either extremely self-disciplined or just not into women," Madison suggested as she analyzed the situation.

Sierra pursed her lips and imagined the scenario Madison had mentioned. It was indeed satisfying.

However, she quickly said, "That won't do. I can't be with Uncle Theo just to satisfy my need for revenge. We're not even from the same social class."

"Are you looking down on him just because he's older than you?"

"I'm not." After all, Theo was only five years older than Sierra.

"Then, do you hate him?" Madison continued to ask.

"That's not it either," Sierra denied immediately. Theo had helped her in a lot of ways. She was nothing but grateful toward him, so how could she possibly hate him?

"If age isn't a problem, and you don't hate him, then why won't you marry him?"
