Chapter 549
He laid on the bed and she stood next to his bed, leaning toward him. They were at a dangerously close distance from each other.
Still holding her hands, the sounds of their breath were in sync.
It was a rather particular scene.
“Feeling better now?” Sage felt slightly uncomfortable and moved further away from him. “Yeah, much better.” Jace let go of her hands slowly and just when Sage was about to take back her hands, Jace grabbed her wrist again.
Sage was annoyed as she did not understand what Jace tried to do.

Only God knew how confused and conflicted Jace felt.
He had to decide between his rationality and emotionality.
Staring right into Sage’s mesmerizing eyes, Jace finally came to a decision.
“Sage.”
In a husky and low voice, he asked, “Can you keep me company during my stay here at the hospital?” Meeting his eyes, Sage fell into a silence.

“What? He wants you to keep him company at the hospital?” Luther exploded in anger. “Jace Yuriel said that to you?” With her legs crossed over each other, Sage who sat on the sofa while munching on an apple, nodded.

Sage nodded in agreement. “You know me the best, Kane,” “Oh, don’t you flatter me!” Kane gave her a side-eye and went on, “You should’ve stopped at saving him, why did you agree to keep him company? Don’t you have anything better? The high and mighty Mister Jace could not afford to hire any caretaker? If that’s the case, I can hire a team of caretakers for him. Why does he need you to be there?” “I don’t have to take care of him. Perhaps just prepare meals and spend some time talking to him.”
Inwardly, Sage thought to herself, ‘As long as he doesn’t bring up the topic of remarriage or getting back together, all is fine.’ Sage could not even care less if Jace would think of her as his mother. She felt heavily indebted to Jace. Ross was able to empathize with Sage’s situation. He did not say much but he asked, “Until when do you need to keep him company?” Hesitating, Sage replied, “Perhaps until his hair grows out.”
Her three brothers were rendered speechless. Ross asked, “Then when are you leaving for Yathein?” Throwing the apple core into the dustbin, still chewing the last bite of the apple in her mouth, she mumbled, “After the opening of the racing course project, perhaps after Valentine’s day. Just the thought of being able to see Tim gets me all excited.” She then leaned against the sofa and looked at her brothers. “So which one of you wants to go with me? You heard about it, right? Tim got me an island.”
