Chapter 271 Jace looked up at Zachary, “Miss Norah?” “I meant Sage.” Zachary looked at them innocently, “You two are divorced, right? I can’t just casually call her Sage, that’s inappropriate.”
Jace was speechless. He felt uncomfortable being reminded of his divorce. Being reminded of it felt like a pinch on his heart.
Zachary on the other hand wasn’t bothered at all, and he was all excited, “Sage’s new launch got everyone in my class discussing it. No one could get their hands on it no matter how long they queued. Luckily, I asked for a key charm from Sage beforehand.”
He then continued, “Everyone looked at me in envy when I told them the owner used to be my sister-in-law. It’s a pity you two are separated now, if not, I could’ve gotten more from the back door…!
Zachary kept on blabbering on, and on, and on, and every word he said felt like a sword being stabbed into Jace’s heart. His face darkened as Zachary kept talking.
“Nonsense!”
Jace immediately reprimanded his cousin brother, “You should put all of your focus into studying as a student. Stop all this nonsense at once. Have you prepared for your mid-term exams yet? You seem to have a lot of time on your hands.” Zachary said in a quiet voice, “Why are you so angry? She really is just my ex-sister-in-law, I’m not wrong. You were the one that lost her in the end, why are you taking it out on me…”
“What did you just say?” Jace was fuming, “Louder, I can’t hear you!”
“You’ve been cold to her for the past three years. I saw it myself as you pushed her further away no matter how hard she tried to please you.” Grandma Yuriel shook her head and continued, “Karma comes back in a full circle! I can’t believe this is happening to you instead now.”
Jace’s face darkened completely. “Are you really my grandmother?” Grandma Yuriel stopped teasing Jace and recomposed herself. She said to him, “Of course I
am, that’s why we want the best for you. We wanted you to marry someone kind and suitable for you. A good wife bears good future generations too. If you marry poorly, your life will end as you know it. So you should really consider your options here…” She took the watering can from Jace’s hand and patted him on the back, “Alright, go see your grandfather for whatever reason you are here for. Go before your mom sees you and scold you again.” Jace forced out a smile. His position in the family was more insignificant than Whiskers the guard dog.
