Chapter 154
“I’ve missed this face.” Jace replied as he asked out of curiosity, “I’ve always wanted to ask, did you have anything injected into your face?
“What injection?” Sage suddenly understood what he meant, “You mean Hyaluronic Acid?”
Jace nodded, it sounded something like that.
Sage scoffed and said, “I don’t need that. I’m not a celebrity, I don’t care about that at all.”
Jace complimented her as he smiled, “You’re prettier than the celebrities.” Sage didn’t even look back and replied, “Au-naturel.”
Sage was everything but humble. Jace happily watched as she applied moisturizer in front of him. She didn’t take him as an outsider. He couldn’t help but kept smiling
As Sage applied layers and layers of skincare and patted it into her face with slapping motions, Jace’s smile disappeared, and he asked, “Does it hurt?”
Sage looked at him and asked, “You want some?”
“No thanks,” said Jace.
As the lights went off, Sage covered herself fully in sheets, revealing only her head. The ward was quiet, only faint sounds of their breathing were heard.
The single ward seemed a little cramped with two beds in it. Sage’s rented bed was smaller, leaned against the wall. Their beds were less than two feet apart.
He returned to his position and explained, “I just want to be closer to you.”
Sage let out a scoff and said, “You had three years to get closer to me legally. Isn’t it too late now?”
Jace felt as though every word Sage said was directed to his heart.
Words as sharp as knives.
She had more to say, “Jace, do not for a second think that you can hold this over my head ever again. I might be vulnerable back then, but now, Sage Norah is ruthless. At least I am, to you.”
