Just then, Silas came back. He realized Calliope hadn’t even noticed he’d been gone. He let out a small sigh of relief.
He knew Oliver might cause trouble for Calliope, so from now on, he was going to stick by her side, no exceptions. He was going to protect her, always. He wasn’t going to let her out of his sight again.
And there was no way he’d ever compromise with Oliver. The idea was laughable.
“What’s up?” Calliope called down from the landing, noticing something a little off in Silas’s expression.
“Nothing,” Silas said, shaking his head and immediately changing the subject. “So, how’d you like the show?”
“It was great!” Calliope grinned, glancing at the video she’d recorded on her phone. “These seats were amazing. The video looks incredible!”
Silas leaned in for a look. “Of course it does. My wife’s got the magic touch with a camera!”
The look in his eyes was full of admiration.
Calliope couldn’t help but laugh. “Seriously? You’re going to compliment me for that?”
She’d really just pointed her phone and hit record, but the spot was perfect, so the footage did turn out pretty awesome.
They went off together to check out the other acts, just soaking up the atmosphere as they wove through the crowd, both in high spirits.
But just as they were about to catch another performance, a sudden scream split the air ahead.
Both of them heard it. They locked eyes and immediately pushed forward, weaving through the crowd.
Soon enough, they saw two people at the center of the commotion. One of them they both recognized: Blythe. The other was a guy covered in tattoos, looking like trouble.
