A Reborn Bride Pearl Emerging from Dust novel Chapter 500

Fleur wanted nothing more than to cover her face and disappear. If she could've melted into the hospital floor, she would have. Anything to get away from this woman.

This woman, unfortunately, was one of her regular poker buddies. And, of course, a full-on suburban socialite.

The worst part? She had a mouth that ran faster than a rumor at a high school prom, and she absolutely thrived on gossip—especially the sort that could ruin someone’s reputation at Sunday brunch.

If this woman found out what had happened to Fleur, she’d have it all over town before Fleur even made it home. There’d be no saving face after that.

“I’m sorry, you’ve got the wrong person!” Fleur tried to turn away, but with her arm in a sling, all she could manage was to duck her head and avert her eyes.

But the woman wasn’t about to let her off the hook. She crowded closer, practically pinning Fleur against the wall.

“Oh, come on! Why are you hiding? Let me see your face!”

“Your voice gives you away, Fleur. It’s you, isn’t it?”

“Don’t be shy! What’s going on? Spill it!”

“Wait—did you have an affair and your son caught you, and then your lover broke your son’s leg? Oh my God, that would be hilarious! Come on, you have to tell me!”

The woman leaned in so close Fleur could smell the peppermint on her breath.

“Are you kidding me? Would you stop gawking and come help me already?” Fleur snapped at Yvette, who was standing nearby with arms crossed, clearly enjoying the show.

Yvette didn’t budge. If anything, she looked downright smug about the whole thing. She’d never liked her mother-in-law, and now that Fleur was helpless, she wasn’t about to lift a finger.

The socialite grabbed Fleur’s injured arm, yanking it so hard Fleur let out a wail that turned every head in the corridor.

“Let go of me! I don’t know you, lady!”

Yvette didn’t even blink. She’d never loved Gideon; he was just the best option she had. Honestly, she doubted she’d find anyone better.

Without another word, Yvette turned and walked away.

Watching her leave without a hint of concern, Fleur clenched her teeth so hard her jaw ached.

After a night of misery, both emotionally and physically, Fleur finally passed out from exhaustion.

...

Meanwhile, Calliope and Silas made their way home.

The whole drive, Calliope could feel the tension radiating off Silas. He looked like he was about to explode.
