Bang!
Just when Calliope was still lost in thought, the door suddenly flew open with a forceful kick.
Gabriel nearly fell flat on his backside.
Gideon, who was writhing in pain, forgot all about his broken leg at the sudden commotion.
Fleur instinctively turned her gaze toward the door.
A shadowy figure loomed at the entrance, emanating a chilling aura. His eyes, cold as ice, surveyed the room.
When his gaze landed on Calliope, the knot in Silas's throat finally loosened.
He knew she was tough, knew she could fend for herself. He was well aware she’d be alright.
But still, worry gnawed at him, fear clawed at his insides. He had gathered his crew to find her, his heart in his throat every step of the way. The mere thought of her getting hurt, even a scratch, terrified him.
Thankfully, she was unharmed. She didn’t look too pleased, but at least she was still munching on peanuts.
“Mr. Myers—” Gabriel plastered on a smile, hoping to explain the situation to Silas. He needed to convey that it was all a misunderstanding, that he hadn’t intended to harm Calliope.
However, before he could get a word in, Silas was already in front of him, delivering a swift kick.
Silas's kick was precise, sparing Calliope but sending Gabriel flying.
Gabriel landed with a heavy thud. But that wasn’t the end of it. Before he could react, punches rained down on him like a summer storm.
Damien and the others barged in, pouncing on the culprits without hesitation.
Fleur and Gideon weren’t spared from the pummeling either. Gideon had brought a sizeable group, but they were no match, getting soundly thrashed amidst a chorus of anguished cries.
Silas stood protectively in front of Calliope, his eyes filled with concern.
Damien and his group quickly lined up on either side. Dressed in matching attire, they shouted in unison to Calliope, “Ma’am, we’re sorry we arrived late!”
“You’re not late,” Calliope smiled, “I’m alright, thank you for worrying!”
Damien chimed in, “We know how capable you are, ma’am. It was Mr. Myers who was really worried! That’s love for you; love makes you lose your mind!”
Calliope gave him a look.
Silas turned around, “If you didn’t speak, no one would think you’re mute!”
Damien grinned, “I just wanted the missus to know how much you love her!”
Silas sighed, “Well, thank you then!”
Once Silas was sure Calliope was unharmed, he turned his attention to Gideon and Fleur. “So, what exactly were you planning to do to my wife?”
