A Reborn Bride Pearl Emerging from Dust novel Chapter 490

Gabriel stammered, a hint of panic in his voice. "Uh, big shot, what kind of compensation are you talking about? Just tell me, and I'll find a way to make it up to you."

"Really?" Calliope raised an eyebrow, her voice smooth and unhurried. "To be honest, my fragile heart has taken quite a hit. I require a substantial emotional compensation."

Gabriel let out a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding.

Money. She wanted money. That was easy enough to handle. As long as it wasn't a life-or-death situation, he could deal with anything she asked.

Gideon and Fleur exchanged confused glances. The only thing they understood was that Gabriel seemed oddly afraid of Calliope. He actually called her "big shot"! But wasn't he the one with the reputation for toughness? Why on earth would he be scared of Calliope?

"Uncle, what are you so afraid of?" Gideon frowned, puzzled by the whole scene. He didn't know what kind of big deal Calliope was, but he felt his uncle was overreacting. It was just Calliope, after all. If his uncle couldn't handle her alone, surely the two of them together could manage.

Fleur shared his skepticism. "Gabriel, you coward! How can you be afraid of some woman? What's there to fear?"

With that, she stormed over to Calliope, ready to strike.

Calliope remained seated, unfazed, simply casting a casual glance at Fleur. Then she locked eyes with Gabriel, almost as if giving him a silent signal.

Before Fleur's hand could make contact, a sharp smack echoed in the room as Gabriel's hand met her cheek.

Fleur, stubborn as ever, still refused to believe it. She lunged at Calliope once more, and this time Gabriel didn't stop her.

Calliope deftly caught Fleur's wrist, and with a quick, practiced motion, dislocated both of Fleur's arms. The pain was instant, rendering Fleur limp and powerless.

"What did you do to me, Calliope?" Fleur's voice shook with fear and disbelief.

"Mom!" Gideon rushed to her side, shielding her from further harm, glaring at Calliope. "What the hell, Calliope? Why did you hurt her?"

Calliope looked at Gideon with a bemused smile. "Wasn't she the one who tried to hit me first? She wanted a fight; I just obliged."
