The man swallowed hard, feeling the weight of the moment. Only someone who had taken a beating could truly understand just how twisted the woman in front of him was. His crew stood no chance against her.
Even though he knew his boss was a retired special forces operative, and pretty skilled, this woman seemed to be on another level entirely.
"Are you kidding me?" Gabriel couldn't wrap his head around it. This woman looked so frail, yet his men couldn’t handle her and let him run?
Who was he? He'd survived war zones, dodged bullets and bombs. A mere woman wouldn’t be his downfall.
"Gideon, aren't you interested in this woman?" Gabriel smirked. "Since these clowns couldn’t handle her, why don’t I help you out, and you can have your fun? After all, any video will do the trick! If Silas finds out his girl got tangled up with you, he’ll definitely make her pay!"
Gabriel stood up, casting a long shadow with his nearly six-foot-three frame. He was a bear of a man, solid and imposing.
He slowly shrugged off his suit jacket and popped open the collar of his shirt, rolling up his sleeves to reveal a menacing tattoo snaking around his forearm.
To an average person, he’d be intimidating as hell. But Calliope wasn’t average; she seemed utterly unfazed.
"Calliope, do you even know who my uncle is?" Gideon sneered down at her. "Why not make it easy on yourself? Beg me, and maybe I’ll tell my uncle to spare you."
He still didn’t realize what was about to unfold. He figured with his uncle in the mix, he’d have the upper hand for sure.
"Beg you?" Calliope’s face twisted with disgust. "Just looking at you makes me nauseous... Gideon, I thought you were useless, but I didn’t realize you’d also be this vile! Of all the people to mess with, you chose me! Honestly, I’ve never been more disappointed."
But Calliope knowing it wasn’t entirely shocking. Gideon must've blabbed.
"Not only do I know it," Calliope scoffed, "but your Tiger Squad was the most incompetent bunch I’ve ever seen. You botched that mission so badly you needed a rescue team. Pathetic."
"What did you just say?" Gabriel's eyes widened in disbelief.
Sure, his team had failed a couple of missions, needing extraction from another squad. But that was supposed to be classified, a closely guarded secret.
How on earth did this girl know about that?
