Her talents? Endless.
And let's not forget, she's absolutely stunning, way out of Yvette's league.
Plus, if even Silas wants to marry her, doesn’t that prove how amazing she is?
Everyone couldn't help but glance sympathetically at Gideon.
Gideon was always under Silas's thumb. If Calliope weren't with Silas, maybe there’d be a chance. But now that she's married to him, no way could Gideon win her over.
"Gideon, I'm just saying, forget about Calliope!"
"You know what Silas is like. She's his now, and if you try to take her, you'll just piss him off!"
"Exactly. He runs the company, and let's be real, if he wants you to jump, you ask how high. You'd be better off cozying up to him rather than pissing him off and making life harder for yourself."
"Women are all the same anyway! Calliope's not yours, so just find someone else!"
"Right, if Yvette's not your type, you can party all you want, and she can't say a thing!"
"I agree. Get married, give Eamon some peace of mind, and maybe you'll get more out of it!"
"Yeah, who knows? Marry, have kids, settle down, and Eamon might decide you're the one fit to run the Baker family business instead of Silas."
Gideon listened to his friends' chatter. He forced a smile.
"Gideon, watch what you say! Silas is well-connected. If this gets back to him, you're in for trouble!"
"Let it get back to him. I want him to know I mean business!" Gideon sneered, "I'm going to challenge him right now! I'm getting my woman back!"
"No, Gideon, you’re drunk! I’ll take you home. You should call it a night. There’s a wedding tomorrow!"
"Yeah, yeah. Let's get you home, don't do something you'll regret!"
His buddies were decent enough, trying to guide Gideon home.
But Gideon, drunk and strong, struggled against them, shouting at the group around him, "I'm not going home! I’m going to see Silas! You all look down on me, don’t you? I knew it, you all think I’m a joke!"
