A Reborn Bride Pearl Emerging from Dust novel Chapter 398

"Well, Zachary promised he’d convince the mysterious screenwriter, C, to meet everyone!"

"That's some seriously exciting news! Wonder when we'll actually hear more about it."

Max was lost in his thoughts, practically vibrating with excitement. "C might not have a ton of work out there, but in the industry, C’s a legend. C’s stuff is just incredible!"

He looked over at Valerian and the two others, who were staring back at him, completely baffled.

“Really, it’s like talking to a brick wall with you guys,” Max muttered under his breath.

“What wall?” Monty asked, furrowing his brow. “What screenwriter… Max, didn’t we pay for this event? Why is everyone acting so weird?”

“Oh, please,” Max rolled his eyes. “That money’s nothing! The real prize is getting any scoop on C! If you had info on C, you'd be the talk of the town With that kind of buzz, money wouldn’t be an issue!

I’ve got to run and edit some videos, prep my script, you know? Can’t stick around chatting while everyone’s scrambling for the scoop!”

Max noticed the reporters had scattered, each chasing the latest lead. He started to panic, “I can’t let them get ahead of me!”

“Wait, Max—”

“Let go of me, I’ve got to go! You’re wasting my time!”

And with that, Max took off at a sprint.

Horatio and the others were left standing there, at a loss for what to do.

“Well, there goes that money,” Valerian frowned.

During dinner, Calliope could feel Gideon’s eyes on her more than once.

Gideon and Yvette had been frequent visitors to the estate lately. Every time Gideon showed up, he’d zone out staring at Calliope.

Calliope, on her part, didn’t pay him any mind; she avoided him when she could, and when she couldn’t, she wasn’t worried.

Yvette noticed it too. Gideon had been unusually quiet and seemed lost in thought, often staring at Calliope, which was starting to seriously irritate her.

“Aunt Callie, you’ve been amazing to Gideon, running around and helping out so much. We’re really grateful for all your effort!” Yvette said, directing her words at Calliope.

“No need to thank me. I’m not really here for you guys. I’m here for Eamon!” Calliope replied with a sly smile. “Don’t get me wrong, dear niece-in-law. When I throw something away, I don’t go digging through the trash to get it back!”
