A Pigeon Pair: Sweetheart, Let's Get Married novel Chapter 424

This was a different thing!

Everly wanted to refute, but Maverick did not give her a chance.

When they fooled around in the bathroom, Everly thought that it was already enough. But in fact, it was just an appetizer. Tonight, Maverick was overly enthusiastic. Everly even thought that Maverick was happy about something.

She originally wanted to ask, but after they made love, Everly was extremely tired and fell straight into a deep sleep.

Everly had a good night's sleep.

When Maverick left in the morning, Everly was still in a deep sleep. Maverick looked quietly at the bedside for a while before leaving home.

The acquisition was a shortcut for the company to gain strength. Maverick knew there was not much time left for him. Zane would think of a way to counterattack.

As expected, the company Maverick tried to merge into postponed the meeting scheduled for today.

The manager of the company kept apologizing over the phone, saying that something had come up and the boss flew out for a business trip, so they had no choice but to put back the meeting.

And they would decide when to hold the meeting after some time.

In the morning, Byron woke up from the hangover. He forced himself to get out of bed for this meeting and drank three cups of espresso in one breath. When Byron heard the news, he was immediately unhappy and smashed the cup in his hand. "What does he mean? Is he playing with us?"

Compared to Byron, Maverick was much calmer as if he had expected it.

It was rare, however, for Byron to see Maverick agitated. Perhaps only Everly could make Maverick more like a normal person.

Byron rubbed his temples and finally calmed down. He could only think of one possibility. "Did Zane do it?"

"Who else could it be? He made us happy about the impending victory and then made us fail. This is real torture."

"What a freak," Byron said, his face darkened.

It would be a miracle if Zane didn't take such a measure.

Byron thought of something else. He picked up his phone and looked at it for a while. Then he looked up. The nervous expression on Byron's face was now completely gone. "The show is about to start."

"Yes, the fish has taken the bait. Just be patient, and they will come and beg us." Maverick held a cigarette in his hand. His expression was indifferent, but his eyes were full of arrogance.

Byron narrowed his eyes and calmed down too.

After staying with Maverick for a long time, Byron had been affected.

The next day, at a commercial event, Byron bumped into Zane.

"Mr. Byron." Zane, who had just stabbed someone in the back yesterday, came up to Byron with a smile.

Byron was indeed an important person in Lunfield. However, since Byron had come to City C and was not on good terms with his family, the way Zane addressed him sounded somewhat ironic.

Byron glanced at Zane, but he did not turn around and walk away. In that case, he would seem petty and take Zane seriously.

Zane knew that Byron and Maverick were good friends and business partners.

Someone like Maverick had a friend when he was in trouble.

Zane felt that it could only mean that Maverick was not doing bad enough. Zane did not believe that when Maverick had nothing, these people would still follow him, be it Byron or Everly.

"Mr. Byron, I admire you. You chose a very difficult path. This is to hone your mind, right? So brave."

Byron could hear the sarcasm in Zane's words, but he didn't take it seriously. Unlike most people coming from wealth, Byron was mild-tempered and especially had thick skin. This kind of provocation didn't work at all. Byron smiled and said, "Thank you for the compliment."

Zane was catty and conceited, but he had no way to deal with a person like Byron, who was unaffected.

As a result, the world was turned upside down in just a month or two.

Although Everly did not understand the rules of the business world, she felt that Maverick lost on purpose to Zane.

And everything was still under Maverick's control.

This man was so shrewd and deep that Everly admired him, but at the same time, she was a little scared of him.

Everly felt that Maverick was too good at keeping cool.

But then again, Everly couldn't be biased against Maverick just because she wasn't the same kind of person as him.

Everly felt that her fear was prejudice. Maverick would not harm her.

After all, he loved her so much.

Maverick put down his phone, put out the cigarette in his hand, turned around, and saw Everly. Her silk pajamas outlined every one of her beautiful curves. She looked so charming.

Maverick walked over with a more meaningful look in his eyes.

Everly looked at Maverick. There was something she was familiar with in his eyes. When they were in bed, the heat could melt her.

The man's love for Everly could always be seen at a glance because he did not restrain himself at all.

Everly calmed down again. No matter what, she knew that Maverick loved her just from a look or a movement.

What was there to worry about?

Everly stood on tiptoe and took the initiative to kiss Maverick.
