Of course, Levi would not care about Everly.
They were all smart people. Levi only cared about his face. He didn't care much about what Everly said or did. Since Zane gave him face, Levi knew that it was about time.
After Levi left, Zane dragged Everly and brought her directly back to her room. When the door was closed, Everly couldn't bear it anymore. "Zane, my son didn't do anything wrong, why did you lock him up? Don't you hate Maverick? Then why don't you face him directly? Is it fun making use of women and children?"
Zane's expression didn't change. He glanced at Everly calmly.
A moment later, he said indifferently, "I said that I would let you see your son. Can't you wait?"
"It has been many days. What exactly do you want to do? I didn't see my son with my own eyes, how can I believe that he is safe and sound? You are such a jerk!"
"So even if he is not safe and sound, what can you do?"
"You..."
"Everly, behave yourself. Otherwise, I won't allow you to see Edmond."
"Zane..."
"Be good and I will let you see your son." After saying this, he turned and walked out of the room.
Everly was so shocked by the sound of the door.
For some reason, she couldn't be sure about Edmond's safety anymore.
Edmond, Edmond...
'Did something happen to him?'
'Otherwise, why did Zane separate us?'
'Why didn't he let me see my son?'
...
Levi was puzzled about this question too.
So, when Zane entered the study, Levi asked directly, "What exactly do you want? Why did you lock them here? I don't think Maverick knew nothing. Look, I don't care about the matters between you brothers, but what you did is inappropriate, don't you think so?"
"Inappropriate?" Zane smiled, "Grandfather, what is inappropriate? And what is appropriate?"
Levi was stunned, he was probably terrified by Zane's fake, gloomy smile. "Zane, I don't care what method you use to get the things you want, but don't cross the bottom line..."
"Grandpa, I know very well what I am doing. You don't have to worry."
"You are a Lamont. The entire family will be handed over to you. You must learn to handle the issue in the family!" said Levi.
Zane understood Levi's words.
Levi cared for nothing but the reputation of the Lamont family. But he wasn't a man with integrity either.
Levi was selfish, double-standard.
"Is that child a Lamont?" Levi asked after a pause.
Zane said, "I don't know, he isn't my child. Grandfather, why don't you go ask Maverick?"
"Isn't he hospitalized in the United States?" Levi sounded normal as if Maverick had nothing to do with him. "Is there any news?"
Seeing that Zane didn't seem to want to talk much, Levi stopped the topic.
They plotted for a while, and then Levi was ready to go back.
Zane wanted to ask the driver to drive Levi back but Levi said, "I've informed my driver and he should be here now. Don't worry about me, focus on your work."
Before leaving, Levi probably thought of Everly. He hesitated and said, "Don't go too far! You know what to do and what not to do. I won't remind you twice! For now, your priority is the company!"
"Got it, grandpa."
...
Maverick had just finished the last cigarette when the phone came.
He blew out a mouthful of smoke and frowned slightly. He glanced at the number and picked it up.
Jayden's voice came. "Mr. Maverick, the person sent out to follow Mr. Levi has sent back some news."
"Speak."
"It is sure that Miss Everly is in the villa and she is fine. But there isn't any information about your son. We're not sure if he is there too."
"What about Levi?"
"He went over after receiving the news. He should have been fooled by Zane. He didn't make much of a fuss."
Maverick slowly stroked the side of the ashtray with his slender fingers. After thinking for a moment, he said in a low voice, "I can't wait anymore. Take action tonight."
